    Wouldn’t an AirTag work?

    We use an Airtag but it has its limitations. Works in an urban environment but relies on being within a certain distance of an iPhone. It is also a bit slow to update. It just provides some peace of mind should the unthinkable happen.

    I use the AirTag route and my friend has this Tractive system. We both live in same village, next to wooded countryside with a sparse human population but a large deer population! Dogs are constantly chasing these Deer. Mine is now kept on lead at all times. As stated above the AirTag only works in close proximity to another IPhone. I dare say when mine got exhausted and eventually stopped chasing the deer then he’d come across someone with iPhone eventually. My friends TRACTIVE system was clever BUT we don’t get a great mobile signal in the woods. Therefore, it stops tracking until dog gets the signal - you cannot track it live and you’d have to wait until the mobile signal is live again. Therefore, in my opinion both options are bit flawed… hence I keep mine on lead nearly all the time now.
