I stayed here 3 weeks ago and really enjoyed the stay. It’s under new management. The rooms are a bit dated ( I mean the modern fixtures and fittings) are a bit tired. Rooms are huge. The grounds are gorgeous, setting really peaceful, 8 miles from Canterbury. A good alternative to city centre hotels which expensive and mediocre quality. The food in the restaurant for dinner was excellent. The breakfast was a bit average. The golf course is superb. This is s good deal! Ideal for a romantic break. If you go with kids there are family rooms and kids would enjoy it too. Also the pool is a nice size well maintained, and the sauna worked really well. There’s only 18 rooms here so it doesn’t seem that crowded. Highly recommended! BTW Golf green fees is £20

Stayed there last week. Well worth the money. Lovely small hotel / pub, nice quiet en suite rooms with very friendly staff. Rooms are adequate with king size bed, small TV, wardobe and hair dryer. Beautiful views out of the windows too. You get a wholesome breakfast free, tho be careful with the toaster! We took our mountain bikes, and found a couple of decent rides. (20 miles) Its only 5 minutes drive to Bowness, and another 5 mins up to Windermere town centre.

I've stayed here before and it's absolutely lovely. Tasteful décor, great location and the food in the restaurant is top notch!

Probably thanks to the last time you posted we spent a weekend there. be sure to have a castle room and not an annex though. The rooms are fine, the food is good, the bar is expensive. It's a good location for Durham, Newcastle and the coast. If you've never been up that way i'd recommend it as it works out cheaper than a Premier Inn. And the staff are fantastic. Just a side-note...if you don't have meals in the castle I certainly wouldn't go near the Weatherspoons just up the road...it's sh***.

Waldolf

My missus said she fancies a couple of knights in a castle. (annoyed)

Rivermouth

I've also been to a wedding and stayed there, and did a banquet too once. It is really nice, great atmosphere, and a nice change from a chain hotel. They have courtyard rooms which aren't in the main building, so there are a mix of old Vs slightly less old! There wasn't an unpleasant smell that we detected. There are lots of things to do in the region, and if you haven't been before you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Dekard97

bonzobanana

I'm only 30 miles away in Yeovil and never knew about it either, I think I've vaguely heard of it but never been. I've been to Weymouth probably a 100 times or more in my life too. Probably go about 4-5 times per year if not more on average in recent years. Even tried to cycle there once but only got as far as Dorchester.

TKDBlackbelt

Definitely worth a few hours in Weymouth. Cafe does nice food as well
