Hmm, tried booking this. Dates were available, went through to payment and wouldn't work. Tried another card just on the off chance. Same problem. Phoned wife, got her to book. Exactly same problem. Has anyone managed to get through to actually book?

Very good price for Dumbleton Hall- I've been to two weddings here but never stayed as the rooms are usually very expensive! It is gorgeous and I hear (from other wedding guests) that the breakfast is lush.

Samhain my husband also loved feeding the ducks on the lake, he kept stealing bread rolls from the wedding hog roast to feed them haha

There's also availability for valentines night

She's gonna be a lucky gallllll

I stayed here last year using a travel voucher, with my fiance, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful scenery, lovely areas to walk around. 3 course dinner was lovely, and the wine list was very cheap too. Rooms were nice and quiet with coffee and tea in your room which was replenished every morning. And to top it off , they have a gorgeous lake filled with ducks and swans which you can feed by asking reception for bread. We spent a majority of our time feeding the birds because it was so peaceful. Sad I know

Hope this review helps.

Did this last year.

Food is classic pub grub. Really enjoyed it. Don't expect anything fancy!

Our room was small and very old fashioned but was clean and had a strong sense of history.

It's in a very small village in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, unless you like lots of walking.

Overall it's a good deal if you're looking for a quiet relaxing weekend in the dales and aren't expecting 5 star luxury.

I live quite near this hotel, they've been on the verge of going under for years. Not worth it even at this price in my opinion.

I'm sure when the staff know what you're paying they will make you feel …I'm sure when the staff know what you're paying they will make you feel appropriately welcome.

So true! A lot of places get very snooty when they think you're a Groupon customer. They tend to develop the attitude: "well what do you expect, for what you're paying?"

Make your minds up hotels, either it's a great bargain offer on a £150 a night room that's equitable for you to sell because you're full the rest of the time;- or your're an abject failure and your hotel's a miserable budget affair.

A lot of the time these deals exist because the hotel's already struggling financially. It's a tough world out there.

It's 5 Euros per pint of Heineken in the hotel, or on the opposite side of the road, it's 2 Euros per pint of Amstel. Room service has drinks at over 200 Euros. There's a nice roof-top bar with great views (when the skies are clear).Breakfast can be really busy on somedays, quiet on others, depending on how many are checking in/out that day. There are some odd combinations available at breakfast including what looked like flaked roast pork and yoghurt for kebabs (must be for the hungover), or you could have crepes, pancakes, fruit, cereals, a cooked breakfast and finish it the chocolate covered donuts and cakes! There are a few other bars, all within 5 minutes walk, including a British bar for those missing Carling. There's a nice little Italian restaurant around the corner with super friendly staff and good food. There are regular busses to the main resorts, of Las Americas and Los Cristianos. Taxis would be 20 euros to the same resorts. There's always discounts for this place on sites like Secret Escapes and Voyage Prive too.

Sounds good, at leats it's not that far, good to know there's others across the road. 5 Euros a pint isn't THAT bad either, still cheaper than a lot of major cities!

Mestre is ages away and on the mainland, book your own and choose a hotel …Mestre is ages away and on the mainland, book your own and choose a hotel in Venice or Venice Lido

Mestre is actually not ages away, I personally find it quicker and easier to get to Venice from Mestre as it only takes 15, 20 minutes by bus, depends where the hotel is located, might be longer.
But if you also preffer a sea view or to walk on the beach then choose Lido.
In that case you will need a boat to get to Venice which also costs more.

Then pay 80 euro for a go in a Gondola. Bet the paddlers wear masks, b&w stripey jumpers and keep the money in a bag with 'swag' written on it.

Stayed a few years ago on similar deal - lovely location and building. One of best pub meals ever had! Great local Hartington beer on tap. Not much in village (tea rooms, antiques shop, cheese shop, General Store, nice gift shop, duck pond - an hour and you have done it all, slowly!)
But great for base - Buxton is one of my favourite towns, Bakewell & Ashbourne nearby. Makes for a great weekend.

Think the description for this post must have been written by the manager of the hotel by the sound of it.

Word of warning this place is not unlike any other west end restaurant. I went here on the Time Out offer earlier this year and they charged extra for everything they could. What a fantastic price, what can you do for £15 nowadays?

Decent place but the birds may seem a bit misererable at this time of year...who wants to be out in this weather?. The young lad who usually takes the tour is very good and knowledgeable with a bit of fun thrown in. The older chap who owns it is passionate about the birds (and the other animals they keep you from seeing on this tour), he comes across a bit like father Jack mixed with uncle Albert but if you like his dry wit it will add to your day.

I've done this (I live close by) and it's a great experience. The place is quite low key in terms of facilities etc. i.e. it's not in your face buy buy buy which is quite refreshing. It's full of wonderful birds and you get the choice of which one to take out in to the beautiful woods.

It's great to know your money is going to support them as a rescue centre too.
