What a dreadful looking phone, why on earth anyone would buy this in preference to the many High end other branded phones is beyond me but it takes all sorts I guess. Be worth about £300 in 2 years time. (edited)

Funnily enough i'm usually not at all, have never spent more than £400 on a phone (most times much less), and only get a new one when mine gets broken or dies. Only reason i've been looking at this is because I was looking to get a compact or bridge camera, and noticed this phone which - with the photo kit especially - is an interesting proposition. Granted, for a niche purpose.

Also, not a dig at all, just out of curiosity, what is a good looking phone? They very much all look the same to me, and assume most of us use a case. (edited)

About £350 for selling both pad and kit if that doesn't interest you. So £900 for the global spec phone, not bad!

I got a used Global device for £700 arriving today from eBay so for new this seems reasonable.

The phone has serious lense condensation issues. And Xiaomi refuses to address the problem...this deal is not worth it
  4. ャャ.グ's avatar
Be careful!! Dont buy this device...fogging main camera is real issue!!
  5. _wibble_'s avatar
Did they acknowledge the camera lens fogging issue?
    rehanraza80's avatar
Well not officially but i ordered Xiaomi 14 pro which was plagued by this issue. Their customer service did say that i might be a bad batch and wait for the new batch. eventually offered me refund as its a known issue to them. i read many reviews about 14 ultra having same issue.

Agree it is a lot of money, but still a deal for those interested in this phone (niche product)

I'll bite when its near the £400-500 mark. Really good as a backup phone camera. Lens fogging an issue tho i think its a major flaw so might have to wait for 15 ultra...
    lehaandreev's avatar
Or just add a phone function on your full frame canon or Nikon and voila!

What would it take for some company to make a smartphone, stick a detatchable APSC module on it with removable lens? Then add some advanced adobe video editing software and get something similar to Samsung DEX.

Honestly only changes on phones these days is the camera. Just put APSC or M/43 on one, plus DEX/laptop esq phone and get the job done. (edited)

I'm sure it's a great phone but the whole point of Xiaomi is getting bang for the buck I would be buying the s24 ultra if spending this sort of money
    fishmaster's avatar
Well the Xiaomi is better than the S24 Ultra in terms of camera system, in fact it is probably the best camera system put into a phone so far. For everything else, get the S24 Ultra. For most people the S24 Ultra is the safe bet, for anyone wanting the best camera performance then the Xiaomi edges the S24 Ultra. In short I'd agree the S24 Ultra is the one to get but this deal is pretty nice especially if you're really into photography.

"What does this all mean for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra becoming the best camera phone I’ve used? I’ve taken hundreds of photos with it and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and for the main camera, I’d choose the Xiaomi phone every time. The tone it produces is wonderful, and I love the Leica black-and-white filters. I also find that I get more creative with it than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. But for almost every other situation, the S24 Ultra is either better or very nearly as good. The comparison is definitely a draw though, and the good news is I don’t think you’ll be disappointed owning either of these fantastic cameras."

I think some of the downvotes are related to potential second hand value. Granted this is a top end camera phone, hell it's better than the iPhone 15 Pro in nearly every conceivable way and has a camera with unparalleled quality, but two years down the line what would it fetch on the second hand market. I've personally been with Android for over 15 years now, but always gulp when I see what a premium handset is priced at two years down the line (except for Samsungs, which appear to hold their value quite well).

How much is a new 13 ultra?

I'm not sure why this has been down-voted so many times. This is actually a decent deal for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

Next Cheapest available is probably Amazon @ £1099:

Thats' fine, I wasn't trying to get crazy heat with this deal hahaha
Mostly I'm interested myself as was keen to get a compact / bridge, then noticed this phone which seems to narrow the gap between phones and cameras

Seems decent price for an actual UK version. My camera lens arrived yesterday and I've already tried taking pictures facing directly at the bright sun and it's awesome! As someone mentioned earlier, it's niche but I genuinely believe screw on lenses are the future for all top Mobile phones

My wife has this phone and the camera is much better than on my Samsung 14 Ultra. Regret not getting one myself. Works very well with the tablet too.

1 inch sensor, used in premium compact cameras in previous years.

In 6 months time it'll be about £400 with free earphones, watch, another phone, £40 voucher for Amazon, and a 12 months Disney TV membership. Xiaomi phones depreciate fast. I'll wait.

How does the honor magic 6 pro compare to this ? Is this worth the extra ££?
  19. Sylvester88's avatar
Not a terrible price but it was cheaper at launch with trade in, and you could trade in literally anything

As with the launch deal, this is probably also cheaper with student discount
  20. lazyboy's avatar
I bought this phone at launch, it is fantastic for photography, the cameras are unbeatable. If you want a phone with the best possible camera that can be used fully manually this is the one. If you like taking snaps, probably better off with something else as you will not see the benefit.

Over a grand for a xiaomi! Nah! I've had xiaomi phones for the past few years and I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred. It may be flagship (or their version of flagship) but suboptimal performance and longevity puts me off completely!

Looks incredible and something tells me pictures in these would be fantastic. Apple needs to bring out something like this.
