    Every time these are posted, the question comes up about insurance. Before getting one, you really need to call your insurer and find out if they consider this a secure enough lock for your policy.

    No you need to check if lock complies with BSI... not call insurer.

    Officially no. the front can be outside, the back isn't suitable. I have one on my gate with a nightlatch, that's overhung by the roof on the side passage, and I've sealed the unit (put a sheet of plastic over the back). It's fine, had it there for several years. YMMV. You could put it in an IP55 box...

    agree, the 9V battery backup on the outside isn't ideal. i wonder how quickly these eat through batteries under normal usage
