Improving your TV’s sound is just the start with the Yamaha YAS-109. Built-in Alexa, wi-fi and Bluetooth make this an ideal wireless music speaker to match.

Get the sound your TV deserves
Today’s TVs look great but, unfortunately, often sound as flat as they look. Regain depth of sound, with this Yamaha soundbar. With technology such as DTS Virtual:X and 3D Surround built-in, you’ll enjoy a much more immersive sound. High quality, stereo speakers powered by a punchy amp delivers a richer, better-balanced sound than your TV, making even the news sound better!

Boost the bass
Featuring a built-in subwoofer with dedicated 60 watt amplifier, the YAS109 has the punch to make your TV sound puny. If you want to take the next step in cinema sound, then why not add a separate subwoofer. The YAS109’s output lets you choose any active sub, for as much bass as you can handle.

Alexa voice control
With Amazon’s Alexa built-in, all you have to do is ask. Useful voice-activated functions include changing the volume, selecting source, muting, and selecting streaming services such as Amazon Music. Of course, it doesn’t just have to be about the sound. You can also ask Alexa about the weather or set a timer.

Stream your music
As well as streaming your favourite Amazon Music you can also take your pick of streaming services or stored music, using the Sound Bar Controller app. Compatible with favourite services such as Spotify (Premium account may be required) and also able to stream music from your NAS (Network Attached Storage) drives, this is an ideal way to access your music. Simply join to your wi-fi router and download the app (available on Apple iOS and Google).

Bluetooth it
If you struggle with wi-fi reception or prefer an even easier set-up, you can also connect your music device via Bluetooth. With more turntables now fitted with a Bluetooth output, this is a highly convenient way of listening to your records. Or simply connect up your smartphone for instant music streaming.

Mount it on the wall
At just 53mm tall, the YAS109 makes a discreet soundbar that won’t block your TV’s picture. If you’ve got a wall-mounted TV, the smart Yamaha flips around and wall mounts, with an on-wall depth of just 62mm it’s a match for the slimmest wall-mounted TVs.

HDMI connection for ease of use
Yamaha makes connecting your TV easy. Simply use the HDMI ARC socket on your TV and you can stream its sound while also pushing video signals from your Blu-ray player or games console to the TV – one cable does it all. For older TVs, an optical input is also standard.

Improve your TVs sound and get smart music streaming into the bargain, with the Yamaha YAS-109.

I bought this a few days ago using this code from Richer Sounds. I use it for my PC (optical) and PS5 (Bluetooth / HDMI in) both connected to a 43in monitor (which has speakers but they aren't great).

The sound is excellent, especially the bass. It also has an app for controlling all the settings / input / volume controls which works well.

The only issue I've had is that the connecting the PS5 using the HDMI in on the soundbar doesn't support 1440p although it does support 4k 60 with HDR and 1080p 120. So any games that output at 1440p - even if they upscale to 4k - end up only outputting at 1080. To avoid this issue I ended up using a Bluetooth audio adapter on the PS5 to connect to the soundbar which works fine - but you do lose sound coming out of the PS5 controller.

Can it work without Alexa keep interrupting you to set. Got the Polk a couple of weeks ago, and it won’t work unless you use Alexa!

It works without setting up Alexa. I have mine connected with Ethernet and so far it hasn't bugged me about Alexa. The app has a section for signing in to use Alexa which I haven't used.

Ive had this and the Beam. The Beam is superior on every level, completely blows it away.

Wondering if the code MAY40 is exclusive to this soundbar or does it apply to any other Richersounds items?

Looking at getting a sound bar. Was tempted by the Sonos Beam but would this be a better purchase?
