From what I can tell, the only difference is the material. Anyone have experience in what is a better puchase?

Chrome looks nice and won't rust but eventually the chrome plating begins to come away and it can give you some nasty little cuts on your fingers. I've had mine for 20 years though and for the first 10 they were flawless. Granted, they haven't been used every day because I have a full gym setup now

Just be aware that the chrome looks lovely, but will scratch VERY easily.

I have both metal and plastic collars - imo i prefer the plastic.. the metal slip easier
