GeForce RTX 4060 perfect for super small form factors. Small power means single fan is not an issue

8GB GDDR6
Boost Clock: 2460MHz
HDMI x 1 DP x 3
The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB SOLO is an ultra-compact graphics card, featuring the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture. Although it is the smallest ZOTAC GAMING 40-series card to-date, it has all the advantages of a 40-series graphics card, including DLSS 3 and 3rd generation ray-tracing, making it an excellent choice for those who want to build a compact gaming PC capable of smooth framerate and performance at 1080P.

Hyperrealistic. Hyperfast.
The Ada architecture unleashes the full glory of ray tracing, which simulates how light behaves in the real world. With the power of RTX 40 Series and third-gen RT Cores, you can experience incredibly detailed virtual worlds like never before.

The performance multiplier, powered by AI.
DLSS is a revolutionary breakthrough in AI-powered graphics that massively boosts performance. Powered by the new fourth-gen Tensor Cores and Optical Flow Accelerator on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs, DLSS 3 uses AI to create additional high-quality frames.

WIDE CASE COMPATIBILITY
The compact design of the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 family of GPUs make it easier for gamers looking to upgrade. With a slim 2.2-slot width and up to 8.9inch / 225.5mm short length, most PC cases available can easily accommodate with a simple drop-in installation.

If your motherboard/cpu combo does NOT do PCIE 4.0 and does 3.0 only, this means that you will get only 8x PCIE 3.0 ONLY, even if the slot itself is 16x, as the card won’t go above 8X. There is plenty of literature on YouTube and the net in general on the topic. You will see performance comparisons (PCIE 3.0 8X vs PCIE 4.0 8X) which demonstrate a significant performance loss. So, again, make sure your board/CPU is PCIE 4.0 ready.

EDIT: the two posts above contain slightly inaccurate information. Whoever is planning to buy, please consider this post I’ve just sent. (edited)

So you're saying for some reason it won't run PCIE 3 x16 in a PCIE 3.0 slot, but it will run PCIE3 x16 in a PCIE 4.0 slot? That's very wierd!

Do you have a link to an article? I'd be interesting in learning more.
    Ideally with GPU-Z screenshots.

*edit* Ignore me, I'm completely wrong lol!!

Sorry mate. I haven't looked for so long I didn't realise it was a PCIE 4 card. (edited)

Worth upgrading from a 1660super to this

I've recently upgraded from a 1660 Super to a 6650XT, was only around £100 to upgrade once I'd sold the 1660 Super. It has made a big difference, but I'd probably recommend holding for a little while longer for something with 12GB.

Make sure you have a pcie 4.0 compatible CPU and motherboard, otherwise at PCI 3.0 bandwidth, this card will have partially hindered performance. Price is great. Below distribution in fact.

These barely use 8x let alone 16x PCI 4.0 so a PCI 3.0 at 16x will be more than enough.

I run my 6800XT at 8x which is equivalent to 3.0 16x and barely lost any frames (edited)

Price is getting better, just need something that’s worthy to upgrade from a 3060ti for decent money!

Great card for a casual gamer

It really is. The only ones you hear moaning about them are them that don't have one, nor have they used one. Everyone we sold them to are delighted with them, not a single complaint and wondering what all the fuss is about. I am really lost on this and other 40 series cards, as they get a lot of work done for small power draw, in fairness. 1440p gamers we advise (quite rightly) to move up a tier or be prepared to use the new tech workarounds, like DLSS and Frame Gen... Has anybody out there got one and are happy with it? We need to balqance out some of these posts with the odd positive review! ;-p

Could this be better for power consumption?

    Comparing to a current 6700xt.

    Thanks all.
    markdigi's avatar
Yes but it's unlikely to have as much of an effect as you'd think. The 6700 XT draws more under load but you aren't running at full load all of the time. Idle power consumption is likely to be much closer together so (depending on usage) you might not really notice that much of a difference. If you're a heavy gamer but also worried about energy bills it might be a consideration, but other than that the 6700 XT is the better card overall.

If you put your non-super gamers hat on and look at it as a card for beginner builds with a low tdp that can still play pretty much everything at ultra 1080p then it’s not a bad price.  So it does sort of suit a certain area of the market fairly well, just not the one everyone thought Nvidia would be going for…

Exactly. It is exactly what I needed and why I purchased it.

The 4050 is still over priced lol

Not the worst value but the 4060 was already one of the least offensive. Still, the 4060 should not be this slow.

It seems the way forward nowadays to make use of features, as much as raw performance. This is a silly small price for this sort of tech, regardless of what the influencers have to say about it. If it wasn't for the glut of 30 series and 6000 series AMD GPUs still kicking about out there, then this and the other 40 series NVIDIAs would not have had such a hard time of it. A casual gamer in a new build PC will not go far wrong with these. They are power efficient and the DLSS and Frame Gen tech is genuinely good. There should really be no comparison with the 3060. The 3060 only got the 12GB instead of 6GB (if you remember back) as AMD popped up with an 8GB competitor in the guise of the 6600 and 6600XT. Otherwise the 3060 was all set to be a 6GB card. For their 'error' back then, NVIDIA are still being held to ransom today. Real world on a low end card such as this will see 1080p gaming and some 1440p well within the 8#GB buffer. There's no point in suggesting that 12GB this and that is the minimum etc. We are where we are, this is the product and if you ignore all the hype on YT, then this does a brilliant job for the price on offer. If you are a 30 series owner, simply ignore it and do without the frame Gen tech. But truth be told, AMD missed the boat with the tech and are fiddling round with their own efforts at present, answered in turn by DLSS 3.5, so this tells you where the industry is going, does it not? 95% of folks still buy NVIDIA. They aren't all wrong...

yes, personally I feel the 4060 should not be that slow. It seems like a small upgrade over the 3060, but again, the jump was small from 2060 to 3060 too (1060-2060 was a lot bigger, if I remember correctly, but that’s beyond the point). In fact, when 3060 was released, I remember people saying there is little to no difference compared to the 2060. However, DLSS 2.0 made the difference, which was more qualitative than quantitative upgrade . 4060, speaking from personal experience, felt very fast in the same game settings, in the only game I have some experience (FN), compared to 3060. I got a big FPS boost, when combined with a fast PCIE 4.0 compatible gaming CPU (5800X). Unfortunately, and I say that, because like Xiaofeng, I wish the performance uplift was bigger, since we are talking about a card which is released nearly 3 years after its predecessor 3060, I can still see the point in buying a 4060 now, especially at this price… (edited)

At £230 it is not absolutely terrible but the fact that it is literally 3 years later is the issue.

We could accept 2060-3060 being similar as it was more of a refresh, only soon after the 2xxx cards. But 4000 has been a very long time coming and yet the range is poor despite the tech being good and that is because they have mislabelled all the cards.

The 4060 is very simply a 4050. There's no two ways about it, even if you count the die size and memory bandwidth it points to a 50 class GPU. So the card should have been retailing for £200 and the discount should make it £170 on a bad single fan model like this.

The 4060 is still one of the least overpriced, but the fact that it can't even over perform a 3060Ti is rather pathetic frankly. And the fact that in many modern titles the 4060 is outperformed by the 12GB 3060 is also shockingly bad.

If this drops another £87, then you will have a cracking 1080p 60 fps card.......and i just bought a RX 6400 for £100 , but if these went down to £150 i would grab one.
