I went for an A54 because of these weird quirks that seem to happen on Pixels. Samsung put things in software to remove some of the quirks eg notifications are managed better.
The thing that completely put me off a Pixel is that there is still issues with WiFi calling/4G calling on some networks, including (but not only) Lebara and Sky. I didn't want my choice of network stunted due to weird Google requirements, so the Samsung got ahead for me.
Note the A55 has just been released which is getting good reviews.
