What's the best carpet cleaner for house with pets?

Which carpet cleaner would you recommend for a house with pets that works well on all stains and is reliable?

    Depends what your needs are really. I bought a BISSELL - SpotClean 36981 Carpet Cleaner - which was £100 at Currys. Used to clean up isolated cat and dog poop and puke from carpets. I've also used it effectively for heavily used doorways, general grime and red wine. You wouldn't want to use it for a large area though.
