Where to get a cheap eye test in England?

I know there's a Scandinavian glasses shop that offers free eye tests, but I'm looking for another option.

So far the cheapest I found are Asda Opticians at £24.

But iirc (I'm in Scotland) you need to go through your work to get a voucher.

If you have a history of glaucoma in the family you get free eye tests if you're over 40

I recently had an eye test at specsavers and I think it was about £25. However it was free if you purchased your glasses there. The glasses were also buy one pair get a pair free and as it happened the ones I liked were in lower price bands. So it cost around £80 for two pairs of glasses and the eye test itself (obviously only cheap if you were thinking of getting new glasses too).

I normally just buy from the various online sites but all in this worked out a better deal and I could try on the glasses etc (edited)
