Gone are the days of free eye test vouchers, rightly so. It’s a professional service which should be charged adequately. Imagine going to the dentist for a free check up, scale and polish, never in a million years.

It’s not. We are not in USA. In most of the EU countries it’s free if you buy glasses and that’s fair. Computer do the heavy job anyway. BTW in civilised countries dentists have assistants to do this. It’s like doctor has nurse for basic treatments and diagnosis.

To get a free eye test, just say that family members have Glaucoma. By law they then have to give you the test for free. I have been doing it for years

That’s technically fraud if you’re not being honest about it.

Great offer. I can't believe they don't offer the service in any central London stores.

Check with your employer if they offer a free eye test. I get one every 2 years.

Not quite the free eye test they were offering in January, but good for those who missed it. (edited)

I’m entitled to a free eye test even two years I think. Is there any optician that is better than others or can it very from store to store? My father has macular degeneration so that’s part of my worry. And I feel like there is some problem with my eyes! Thanks in advance. (edited)

They are all pretty much the same to be honest.

RE eyes. Best you can do is make sure you get the right nutrients. Vitamin A (is key - it's not called retinal for no reason), zinc, omega 3, lutein, Vit C and B - All good for eyes. (edited)

My last eye test was with Vision Express in May 2022 but I don’t know whether it was a free eye test which I get every two years or whether there was an offer on for a free test? I only have a copy of my prescription which doesn’t tell me whether it was a free NHS test or a free eye test using “free offers “! Is there anyway I can find out whether I’m due a free NHS test? Thanks in advance.

There are no free NHS eye tests unless you have been diagnosed with a problem and visiting an eye clinic regularly (or over 60 or child). You have to show them the proof.

"cheapest eye test for those in England"

Why the England reference? Do you know of cheaper in Wales, for example?;)

Idk if it's law but most employers (office jobs) give you free eye tests every 1-2 years. I've not paid for one for the last 3 years and I'm not planning to start now
