Why is Beef Suet so expensive

I like to have dumplings when I make stew or even mince dinner, yet beef suet now seems so much more expensive now.
Have I missed something that there is a genuine reason or is it just the cost of living.
Even looking for packet dumpling mix even if it is not as good as when you make your own seems to have went up quite a lot also.

Yes thats what I used to buy but my nearest HomeBargains does not do them atm.
I might pop through to Durham to see if B&M have any in.

Have you got a decent proper butcher or farm shop nearby? It's only beef fat. Supermarkets won't want to sell it because home cooking severely reduces their profit line, and is a bulky item with a slow return
