A mate of mine once worn a crop top and mini skirt made out of a bin liners and looked stunning so it you can pull it off got for it 8)
Would rather weara big liner.
Amazing idea thank you
Would this be ok for hanging around the shops and harassing people until the small hours? Also looking for something whilst my friends and I take over the children’s play area swearing at the top of our voices - would this fit the bill?
Dead bird for shells and Patagucci for fleece. Other insulation is a toss up, depends on style I guess, do you want Arc's incredible fits and confident styling, or you looking to go Granola Girl/Guy with Patagonia? Both look great in their own way. Used to be a huge fan of Mountain Equipment, but as I get older I tend to wear my outdoors gear for daily comfort too, especially fleeces, and the ME stuff was a bit too hiking specific style wise. You can wear a lot of Bird or 'Gucci casually and look really well put together. I started to feel a bit lame standing in a queue with something that outwardly said 'MOUNTAIN' on it. All of this stuff is over the top for the vast majority of use cases, but the high end industry has moved well past that a long time ago. Almost no-one who makes a decent wage to afford premium hiking gear will be spending enough time in the mountains to justify kit of that quality - and that's okay, because there's no virtue in spending a ton of your life freezing your nuts off acting like a hero on some hill. The real work is done grinding it out for your family ;) High end industry appreciates that thankfully and puts the effort into making that kit look great outdoors and on the commute etc, hence those two get my vote as great pieces to invest in and get a lot of multi-purpose use and enjoyment out of.
Thanks again for your input. Try reading the reviews of the women’s ones. The ones from my post.
I’ve got the men’s version of these. Can’t remember how much I paid for them but what I can say is that they are so so comfy. Like wearing a pair of trainers. As for being waterproof… regularly walk the dogs in them and never had an issue. Granted I wouldn’t be walking through streams in them but for general walks they are fab
I've used these in very wet conditions and I did find them waterproof. I see the reviews are mixed so it may be down to production issues but I guarantee mine are fantastic in that respect.
They ain’t waterproof. North Face is a fashion brand, no serious hikers use them.
Absolutely its a fair comment, sorry I wasn't dismissing what they were saying was incorrect merely pointing out that a jacket designed for urban wear isn't going to be made with the same technical fabrics and materials as one for the mountains.
I think the comment still stands, at one point north face was seen as a quality brand for cold weather etc, it's now just worn as a fashion brand and pretty much advertised as such, resulting in quality dropping too.
This is described as an urban jacket, so I assumed it was better suited the city rather than mountain rangers.
As usual the brand is now purely living off its fashionable name and thr quality is tragic

The North Face Baseball caps from £9 or Reversible Hat £9.90 delivered @ The North Face£9 Free P&P Free
Of course its trivial to get worked up over a hat. You might be guilty of ascribing very strong descriptors of how someone is feeling based on a few words on a forum (y)
So let me see if I’ve got this right, my real world review of a product I bought some years back bothers you because it differs to your real world review of a product you bought. Do you not think it’s a bit silly getting so worked up over something so trivial as someone else’s opinion of a hat?
It bothers me that you have entirely discounted my real world review of the actual product on sale here because of your experience of an entirely different product that you bought 13 years ago.
What a silly comment. Why does it bother you so much that I bought something some years back and found that it did a good job?
I'm sure your windows phone from 2008 is doing pretty well today too. Fill your boots, buy one. Or...read the reviews

About the North Face
Founded in San Francisco back in 1968, the North Face has blossomed, becoming one of the world's biggest and most respected outdoor brands. Specialists in rugged clothing for hiking, mountaineering and skiing, its products play equally well on the street as the trail. And great prices can often be found via the North Face code promotions.
Exploring the North Face Product Range
At first, the North Face was almost totally centred around mountaineering, but today's online store ranges extremely widely. Whatever outdoor activity you're interested in, there should be products to meet your needs. To give you a flavour of what's on offer, let's take a tour through the North Face's major product categories.
The same applies to women. The North Face offers a stylish collection of engineered coats, which match good looks and weather protection. There are sports bras, underwear, shorts and dresses, as well as a wide variety of essential accessories.
There are separate categories for both men's and women's footwear. Products include rugged walking boots, skiing boots and snowshoes, lightweight trainers for summer hiking, slippers, mules, trainers, and even running shoes – the kind of footwear that ultra-marathon runners rely on.
If you can buy it for adults at the North Face, you can probably also buy it for kids. The brand has come up with a huge selection of clothing, footwear and accessories for people who are taking their first steps on the trail. So if you want to organise a family escape to the countryside or an Alpine adventure, North Face offers are well worth exploring.
Storage is essential for outdoor holidays, and the North Face are specialists in this area. Pick up resilient backpacks, lightweight hiking packs and daypacks that will be great for urban exploration. There are also duffel bags, suitcases, bum bags and even tote bags. So there should be bags for every season and outdoor situation.
Travel gets its own section, and with good reason. The North Face makes it easy to kit up for backpacking excursions of any duration. Gather together backpacks, cases, sleeping bags and accessories like wallets and washbags. It's all here in one place, simplifying the task of preparing to go away.
The North Face has moved with the times, and has developed a range of materials aimed at outdoor lovers. This section is intended to showcase revolutionary products like Futurelight, a material which blends extremely lightweight and excellent insulation – pretty much the ideal mix for hikers and runners.
Activity Based Sections
Along with these basic product categories, shoppers can zero in on specific activities. For instance, there's a home workout section filled with apparel for people who intend to get fit without leaving their bedroom. The Ski & Snowboard shop is another popular spot.
Don't get the impression that the North Face is all about functionality. Recent years have seen the store introduce some exciting new fashion ranges which blend outdoor tech with designer looks. Snow Rogue is one of the most impressive, and is a great option for skiing fans who need to stand out.
The North Face Deals and Sales
The North Face doesn't compromise in terms of quality, but that doesn't mean prices are high. In fact, the North Face sale promotions happen all the time. Bargain hunters should start with the North Face Outlet, where huge reductions are routine. UniDAYS members should definitely redeem their student discount, while members of the VIPeak loyalty scheme earn a discount on their first order. Look for Black Friday and New Year deals, and don't forget to bookmark the North Face hotukdeals listings, which constantly offer new ways to save.
