Had a phone call from them this week offering stunning £38pm for superb 250MB speed if I upgrade from my 120MB for which I'm paying £17pm and fixed price for length of the contract. What a marvellous deal they have to offer to existing customers. At the same time, they still havent sorted my bloody hub 3 which stuck on solid Red light (overheating according to their website), but technical team saying that's fine, it can be red... Horrible service (edited)

Unplug it, then phone them and tell them it's not turning on. They will check their end, see no signal and have to send out a new one. Once they've assured you the replacements on the way then plug it back in until needed. Well that is if you are staying with them... (edited)

Can any one confirm that this work? I already booked for the self installation kit. Can I still get £50?

Virgin is by far the worse broadband I've ever had.

The router is awful. The WiFi reception is terrible around the house where it has always been fine with other networks.

Our devices constantly lose connection randomly.

The entire WiFi has gone off for between 12hrs and 24hrs a few times in the 5 months we've been with virgin.

Getting to speak with a real person if you have issues is pretty much impossible.

When I applied for their broadband, Virgin did a hard search which seriously reduced my credit score. This hard search is still on there now after several months.

I'm tied into a contract with them for 18 months and I'm tempted to terminate my contract and pay the early exit fee rather than put up with this for another 13 months.

If anybody is considering going with Virgin, make sure they are not going to send you a Hub 4 or below or you will have the same issues as us (edited)

For the last 15 years or so I've refused to use their router and always bought my own and that's always worked fine for me.

My current router is the TP Link ax1800 which has been amazing for the last year I've had it

Can’t see this deal on MSE or Virgin :/

Considering this over the 500Mb with Vodafone (which is about £2 p/m extra)

I'd typically expect Virgin to be more reliable than Vodafone, which would people recommend?
(This Virgin deal is 18 month whereas the Vodafone is 24 month so would obviously be getting a better price for longer with Vodafone) but not sure on reliability as I've always been with BT (edited)
    Ega_Hacass's avatar
You will not notice any difference in reliability on a fiber(unless you unlucky). Go with the one you like the router(if you need one) and which one has better customer support.

Any idea how long it takes to be considered a new customer? Mine ends in January and doubles so I'm cancelling and going with Vodafone for a couple of years as when I spoke go virgin they wouldn't do anything to help really. Quite annoying that they'd rather lose a customer than give me a discount.
    J_Akhter's avatar
90 days from cancellation or end of contract
  8. lucyferror's avatar
Like usually old customers get NOTHING decent. No chance to anything even remotely similar if you are still in contract with them.
    kneale81's avatar
They do offer retention deals, as long as you go ahead and actual give your notice! They’ll contact you during this period and the deals will get better the closer to the cancellation date you get. I pay £16/month for 125Mb. You can give notice to cancel 30 days before the end of your contract.
  9. le_jaeger's avatar
Will they generally need to dig up roads and driveways for these faster fibre connections?
    Could do without the hassle.

If your property has has subscribed to Virgin cable in the past then there is probably already a coaxial cable under your driveway or front lawn into a room in your house. That’s all you need to get this deal.

If it’s the first time your property is subscribing to cable TV/Internet then they might need to dig in a coax cable. They’re pretty good at minimising disruption with a narrow trench and running the cable above ground along walls where possible.

Over the next 5 years Virgin plan to upgrade all their customers to full fibre so they can compete with the other fibre to the home companies. So whatever the situation right now, if you stay with Virgin they’ll eventually want to dig up the old coax cable to replace it with a fibre optic one.

    Hey, could you explain

*If you have O2 mobile contract, you may become eligible for VOLT benefit and a free speed upgrade to M350 Tier

    Thanks. (edited)

If you have VM Broadband (lower speeds only I suspect) and have an O2 mobile contract, if you link them together you will get double speed on VM and double data on O2 at no extra cost. See here

Obviously they want to keep you, which is why they do it. Personally I would rather keep the two separate, but thats my choice (and after being with VM and its predecessors for more than twenty years). (edited)

The bill credit is automatic? Can't see in my account, after getting this deal last time.
    Dr_Bob's avatar
It is automatic when you sign up. It shows as a credit balance on my bill. You should have received an email with the subject line "Your Virgin Media Contract" when you signed up that gave the details of the offer.

    48795863-TXLON.jpg
The £52.10 credit is because the first bill is for 2 months of service - your first month in arrears and the next month in advance i.e 100 - (23.95 x 2) = 52.10

The attached contract PDF would also have had a section about the £100 credit and promotional price:

I got a similar deal about a year ago. They charged me a £35 fee which wasn't mentioned anywhere.
Virgin couldn't give a s--t about it, all they said was prove it. I hadn't taken any screenshots at the time, so they weren't interested. I almost gave up, but contacted MSE about it (as it was through them). They confirmed via their deals team that I had been incorrectly charged and they even chased Virgin on my behalf. A week or so later MSE got back to me and apologised (even though it wasn't their fault) and advised me that the £35 would be paid back into my virgin account before my next bill - and it was.
Virgin had the cheek to send me an email saying they were glad they could help me! The questionnaire they also sent, I returned in which I educated them on customer care and told them I will go out of my way to leave them at renewal time.
I would rather pay more than renew with them.

After I transferred to them I remembered why I left them a number of years before - their poor customer care or even interest in customers once you're signed up.

    End of rant..... Breathe. (edited)

Exactly what I was looking for, BT weren't keeping me with these, best they could do over the phone was ~£35

    VIRGIN MEDIA CUSTOMERS BEWARE.
I have been conned where I didn’t sign a contract. Now I’m stuck with them for a while. Time to go to fibre community or BT fibre. I remembered renewing my contact for 12 months. When I tried to end the contract recently cos a big price hike they said I have signed a 18 months contract which was bill shit. Ripping people off who has been loyal customers for donkey years.

Yesterday, our contract end up after 30 days notice. Internet is off, tried to start new contract on my wife's name. Didn't worked.. Apparently, the person not supposed to lived at the address for longer that 30 days. Did someone managed to take the offer?

48799838-mv2mc.jpgGuys btw I ordered this exact plan last month when it was on offer in October, in my contract it said I would receive a Hub 4. As I required a manned install, I had to book an engineer. Engineer installed a Hub 3 and then said that he didn’t have any Hub 4 in his van? Although I have contacted CS regarding this, it’s been pretty much a fight to get the Hub 4. It should be coming tomorrow.

If you can get QuickStart, opt for this as people who opted for this did receive Hub 4 via the delivery service.
    Dr_Bob's avatar
Counterpoint, if you're feeling lucky - I needed an engineer install and got a Hub 5 because that was all he had in his van!

Been with VM for a few years and just renewed yesterday for this package + Mixit TV £32 a month, not too bad for an existing customer I guess..

Anyone know if you can upgrade or add on Evenings and Weekend Calls to this deal? This one currently comes with Talk Weekend.
    Thanks
    zxin's avatar
Yes you can once your services are activated.

This is cracking deal but if you're not bothered about having a phone then voucher codes (via their app) have got £140 Amazon voucher offer and the M350 at £27 per month. I've put pics down of a few other deals they have on.

I have ordered it but they never asked for preferred installation date. I would like it installed in January as my current contract is ending then.
I do not have email with account number yet. When it will be set?
Any idea at what point I can postpone the installation date?
    buggu's avatar
Ring them up and check if they got your order on the system. If they have, get them to change the installation date. If not, try to order again with them, and get them to add a recommend a friend code. No reason why the shouldn't.
  24. joethepope's avatar
    I’m on phone atm.
is this only for new customers?
    buggu's avatar
Yes new customers but no harm mentioning it and if they say as much, just say BT are also doing a good deal for new customers £31 for 500MB, and that’s without discounts, cashbacks and refer a friend that I could also look into. (edited)

Not quite the same, but just got M250 for £20 retention deal for 18 months. Was able to get it with online agent

    Was this with volt.

I've ordered o2 pay monthly sim only. If I ordered this now would I be eligible to upgrade to m350? If so how long would it take? Or would they be like you're already in contract with both now so no can do?
    zxin's avatar
Once you get your O2 sim, that will automatically start working.
once you order your virgin media services, you will need to let them activate for you to activate the VOLT benefits in your my O2. My VOLT benefits took about a week to activate

Completed the order online and no one turn-up on the installation date, called to find out and they replied after 48 min said it was a system or website error and the order did not go through, they told me to buy the deal over the phone, they have done a hard search, I got a confirmation email and a copy of the contract but at the end telling me that order has not gone through!,  suddenly Community Fiber started offering in my area, The company with the most positive review, the most generous refer a friends bonus and a better router,  Boom! purchased and got this Friday's installation day, someone earlier sent me the link so both can get £100 amazon voucher.  This is my 2nd attempt with Virgin media the first order also did not go through by giving a reason that the service is still not available in my area, how come they do a hard search, send me the order conformation and at the end rejected the order?, Don't trust these jockers.
