”Still a brilliant small streaming system.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2022 award-winner.

Bluetooth now standard
For the first time, Denon’s best-selling Hi-Fi mini system comes with Bluetooth connectivity. This lets you wirelessly connect your smartphone or tablet and stream your stored music or favourite streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer. For improved sound quality when not using Bluetooth, a simple switch lets you power down the circuits, creating less internal electrical noise.

The compact system that still puts sound first
Denon’s baby Hi-Fi systems have always been renowned for putting sound first and the DM41 DAB is no different. "Simple & Straight" circuit design minimizes distortion from the input selector, electronic volume control and power amp for sound purity and very low levels of distortion. Working alongside this, Triple Noise Reduction Design (TNRD) works to preserve the signal quality for the most accurate, life-like sound.

DAB radio
The Denon DM41 DAB comes with an impressive sounding tuner radio that's comprehensively equipped. Featuring DAB+, DAB and FM (RDS), the tuner has all your radio needs covered and, as ever, puts sound quality first.

Top quality CD player
Many of us still have a sizeable CD collection and it’s here where the DM41 really excels. Denon’s first-rate engineering gives CDs a smooth, dynamic sound. The player is also flexible enough to playback WMA and MP3 encoded discs.

Connect up three other components
Although a brilliant system in its own right, the DM41DAB reaches out to your other sources, too. If you've got a TV, games console or TV set-top box, you can plug them in using the two standard optical inputs. An analogue AUX input is also included for older sources.

Pump up the bass with an optional subwoofer
By fitting a subwoofer output, Denon gives you a wider choice of speaker options. Instead of medium-sized or floorstanding speakers you can use an active subwoofer with small satellite speakers - the choice is yours.

Perfect for a second room
The compact size makes the DM41 DAB ideal for serious sound in a second room. Many have used their previous Denon M-Series systems in bedrooms, studies and kitchens and have been delighted with the results. The clock, sleep timer and headphone output all help improve the systems functionality.

Proper Hi-Fi in a compact box – the Denon DM41 DAB still leads its class.

I've got this DM-41. I was really happy with it for a few years. But then the CD started playing up, wont recognise many discs, unless you keep ejecting and reinserting. This is with originals and CD-R. Tried cleaning lazer etc, to no avail.
Bluetooth is a bit unreliable as well.
I just use it now for the DAB+ radio and as a sound system for my TV.
I've since found many reports of unreliability with this unit.

I bought 2 of these and the CD player has gone in both ... Bad disk error. Also, segments of the display have gone. All with very light usage. Will not buy Denon again.

Just checked this 6 yr warranty on this deal. They charge for it, 10% of the price. So it will cost you an extra £20 for it.
Although they do refund it back if you dont use it in the 6 yrs.

It is highly unlikely you will get a refund on warranty. Better check terms and conditions to avoid disappointment. Richer Sounds has most bizarre warranty policy I have seen in my life.
Despite that this is a very good deal. Heat added.

When you look at reviews on Amazon, Argos, richer sounds they are all amazing, so it’s strange to see the negative comments on this site.

Because the reviews are almost always added not long after they first bought the product. This is a great mini system when its new and everything works. But the build quality and reliability is obviously not good from the large amount of people that have issues with it after a year or two.

Should have kept my separates system, that i bought from RS Bristol in the early 90's. All components were still working perfectly when i sold it to get this Denon DM41 to have a more compact system.
Hi Fi had better build quality back in the day.

You're very right. I'm still using my NAD C320 BEE amp and CD Player from 2002, TDL speakers from circa 93 that I got for free from a friend about 14 years ago (have recapped the crossovers tho). 90s/00s hifi was seriously good and over engineered.

This is a great system but extremely long in the tooth. This model must be at least five years old by now.

I have a Denon UD-M31 that's still going strong after 20 years of use. I bought a digital to analogue converter from Amazon for £7, using that I have it connected to my TVs spdif socket and to a generation 2 Echo dot so I can voice control my music through my old B&W speakers and have my TV coming out through them as well. I'm not recommending Denon as a brand though, because nothing is built with longevity in mind now! Funny thing mine also cost me £199 20 years ago.

Great unit IMO, picked one up on the marketplace for £80 with speakers and I am impressed with it, would happily pay £199 for one. I have a chromecast audio into one of the optical ins on the back and it does everything I need it to. Also has a subwoofer output so great for a little TV system or bedroom

Can't understand the hate for this. I've got this version hooked up to some simple mini monitor -sounds great. I also have it running from my TV. I also had the non-BT version years ago - no issues, good sound.
You might need to buy a better antenna, but they're only a tenner from Amazon/eBay.
Read the What Hi-Fi review - it glows off the page.

Is there a well priced alternative to Denon?I would like a mini system with the amp and cd player integrated,I already have speakers and stands

Have a look at Onkyo. If lucky you can buy like new dirt cheap from popular auction site.

What you probably want is mini hifi system with streaming capability like Denon CEOL N10, but price is at least £100 more. Worth to check before making decision.

I have the older version and a set of matching speakers. I got it in 2004 and still going strong except the rotary volume control is now totally random so you have to adjust using the remote.

Exactly the same happened to mine.
It could give you a fright when you went to turn it down & it randomly went up to max instead.

Any idea what the display is like on this for DAB please? Does it display the station name and radio text or only the station name? (edited)
    Biker.Jeff's avatar

Yes, does it does show station name along with scrolling radio text. Will also show other info if you want.

I am not sure why people are doubting the longeivity of these. I have a Denon DM38 as well as this model which I purchased a month ago. The DM 38 is still going strong and I have no doubt this model will give me similar service. Its build quality seems fine. It has various display options, including station name, signal strength, radio text and sound quality.

I believe it's only the station name but it's been a long while since I used the radio on mine and I don't know where the FM aerial wire for it went so I can't check. Sorry!

I would agree, but my Chromecast disappears off the system on a regular basis. I have yet to find a way of correcting this. I have researched on the Internet. All people say is make sure they are on the same network. They must be presumably, otherwise they would never connect.

I had same issue as another post earlier . Got this from R.S. couple of months ago as an upgrade from a 10 yr old DAB Sony system .
Tried three different speakers with the unit , really disappointed , none of them were a patch with the sound on my old Sony system .
Can’t fault R.S. for their customer service. Even though I’d used the system , I explained I was unhappy with the performance , they gave me a full refund
