Glad to see someone already posted about the privacy and security concerns. Just to really drive home why I’d avoid anything Anker/eufy involving a camera. (& soundcore if you just don’t want to support this company around the concerns) this excerpt about the problem should drill it home:

“Now, Anker is finally taking a stab at a public explanation, in a new blog post titled “To our eufy Security Customers and Partners.” Unfortunately, it contains no apology, and doesn’t begin to address why anyone would be able to view an unencrypted stream in VLC Media Player on the other side of the country, from a supposedly always-local, always-end-to-end-encrypted camera.

What it does contain is a clear admission: “eufy Security ’s Live View Feature on its Web-Portal Feature Has a Security Flaw,” the company admits in bold letters.”

People can view unencrypted live streams from your doorbell any eufy camera with a live stream function and as far as anyone is aware the issue isn’t patched. Nor fully admitted
    It all for months.

They’ve also been uploading and keeping public facing copies of photos etc from the camera, which you can access off their servers (unsure if patched at all) despite originally claiming they don’t upload or store any of this data at all.

It took a independent 3rd party demonstrating the flaws openly Before anyone knew.

So yeah. Hard pass on anything eufy/Anker/soundcore from me going forward. I won’t support a company with this much deception and disregard for its customers. Sad really; I used to praise them.

Cheapest I've seen, having issues with the doorbell not working in the cold. Coldest it's been -5°.

That’s odd, ours was fine at -10c even with a low battery warning. All my eufy cameras were fine.

My front door is not directly in front of the path, it is approached from the side. Can this (or any other video doorbell) be mounted to view an approach from the side? Thanks.

Yes, it comes with a 15 degree wedge. You will probably need to go on eBay and buy one of the many 3D printed 45 degree wedges.

I just sat through a 5 min video from Eufy on YouTube, and it has a quite through installation tutorial, and illustrates that the 15 degree wedge mentioned above (which I wasn't aware of) would allow the camera's field of view to go down my path. The external power is also illustrated when replacing an existing powered doorbell - I presume some form of external power would also be available. Thanks.

Gadget Show on YouTube reviewed this about a year ago. They had horrendous lag which meant trying to talk to anybody at the door was hopeless. I wonder if this has been improved on with firmware/software updates. They assumed the Hub being another piece in the process was causing the lag.

Nope. I’ve got the doorbell and chime only - it’s the failure to connect to live feed which is the worst. We now only use it for the chime and don’t even bother looking on the app beforehand.

The security issues mean most people should actively avoid Eufy or Anker smart home connected products no matter how good the price seems.

They were blown out of the water and over-hyped. If you were worrying about their so-called security issues, you might as well go back to a land line and avoid anything internet connected.

Basically they needed to send a thumbnail to the cloud for push notifications to work with an image.

The VLC issue needed your physical serial number on the device, username, password and some other information, all of which would be pretty hard to come back normally.

    Dodgy company. No thanks

    Wouldn’t even recommend eufy doorbell.

I’ve got one and it’s next to useless now, the connection to live feed always fails and by the time it finally connects, the person who’s rang the doorbell has given up and driven off.

Most of the time it fails to automatically sense movement too (the settings don’t improve either)

If this came with the Homebase 3 then good deal…but it doesn’t.

I assume from your comment you're not very tech literate, but connecting an unsecure device like this on your home network is an incredibly bad idea beyond having your data collected.

Battery powered. But also could be hard wired. Has any hard wired it?
    Wilson_J's avatar
Hard wiring won’t allow it to get better motion like the true wired version. It honestly makes no sense why but oh well

Battery powered. I get about 16 days use before I need to recharge.
    deleted2682029's avatar
    16 days? I charge mine up bout 3 times a year ....

If anyone is interested, you can get 2 1080p cameras on amazon with the homebase 2 for £160.

Then what i did is purchase the 2k doorbell separately for £105 at a later date. (edited)

Is this interchangeable (same docking station) as the single 2k cam doorbell?

Eufy will be severely disappointed when they steal my doorbell data.

I have had this since it was released. It replaced a ring doorbell. I was unhappy with the Slow response time on the ring and paying for a monthly subscription was annoying as well. Sadly the response time is no better. But the no subscription is great. Having two cameras and being able to look at my doorstep is wonderful. Just don't expect it to be a lot faster than your old ring.

I have a Eufy 2k doorbell and seven Eufy 2c camera's conected to a homebase 2 all around my house with a Eufy wired 1080p flloodlight camera on my garage, I have not had any problems with these, but I would add that the response time of the notifications are a bit slow, I bought everyone seperately in various sales and didn't pay anywhere near full price and I am over the moon with them, they are over 12 months old, I don't know how long the batteries will last though.
