As an active downloaded of many things, my storage can't keep up with my downloads so I'm sticking with their 300mbps package.

I'm sure I've got 20tb of data, mostly games

This has been my main question with 1G, do I really need it when most sites limit the download speed. I'm glad you have said this. Thank you.

I’m on O2 but my wife isn’t but the contract is in my name would I be able to haggle to get the upgrade if my wife gets an o2 sim. I’ve already upgraded once. Thanks

As long as any 02 & VM bill are at the same home address they qualify for the free speed boost irrespective of name on account.
Don't forget this also entitles your 02 data being doubled, ie 50GB becomes 100GB.

Don't forget the stealth rise in April RPI +3.9% around14%
    KodaBear's avatar
Virgin don’t yet do price increases. They plan to introduce this soon. But it won’t apply to contracts that are set up beforehand.
  4. Bowler_man's avatar
† The price of your Virgin Media services may increase during your contract. If this happens, we will notify you beforehand and you will have the option to leave your Virgin Media contract without paying an early termination fee, including where you are in a minimum term contract. If you are purchasing or recontracting your Virgin Media services for a new minimum term at the same time as purchasing or recontracting to an O2 Airtime Plan, and we increase the price of your Virgin Media services, you will have the option to leave your Virgin Media services and your O2 Airtime Plan without paying an early termination fee.

*O2 sim: Each year your O2 mobile Airtime Plan will be increased by the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation announced in February plus 3.9%. If RPI is negative, we’ll only apply the 3.9%. You’ll see this increase on your April 2023 O2 bill onwards. Since this increase is provided for within your agreement, you will not be able to leave without paying an early termination fee as a result. See O2 Prices.

Yes. If you grab an o2 SIM that has the RPI+3.9% Increase.

Home services do not though. Their terms have said the same for years now. If the price increases during the contract you are free to leave without penalty. But you will find that the price increases never apply to a Virgin customer who is in their initial contract period on a new customer offer. And if they suddenly change their mind, you said yourself when copying the terms:

If this happens, we will notify you beforehand and you will have the option to leave your Virgin Media contract without paying an early termination fee, including where you are in a minimum term contract.
So just like I said - This deal for £39.99 Gigabit broadband only (No SIM Included) has no 'stealth' price increase hidden in it at all if you sign up today. That's the price for 18 Months.

Don't forget, if your already on virgin media 500mb broadband and have or get an 02 sim you can get speed boost to 1gb for free.

This is the best option as it makes it easier to haggle at renewal.

Another excellent deal OP. Some people might be able to get cheaper broadband but in my area virgin are the only ones doing more than 60mb. Thankfully, over the last 18 years or so we have had minimal issues and great speeds. Prices have been creeping up though, I was paying £60 for this on my previous contract.

    Great deal!

    Warning about extra charges:

    (I ordered a similar deal m350)

The hub and install costs are free if doing self install. See pics below.

But they will sneak on a £5 charge for the hub!
Watch out for it - has it happened to anyone else?

They tried that with us, we rang and got refunded. They tried to claim it was postage but we had not been told prior to this.
Not an issue. But, sly indeed.

I'd literally climb aboard a virgin rocket with a chimp, before I'd get their broadband.
    L33TL33's avatar
No issues with their broadband, just the customer service is lacking

1 thing to look out for (and I maybe set it up wrong), if you have trouble with this unplug the repeater, it seemed to not work with the router and ended up like 2 different connection types, maybe it awful in some areas. It was a free ‘tester’ at the time though and maybe better now

You get Hub5 now. And it's equipped with WiFi6. It's much better than any previous Hub VM provided.

I have it wow I get 850 speed all over the house 500 speed in the back garden and 3 Wi-Fi max free in the sitting room I get 1150 speed.

I must admit the 3 superpods work very well on 1gb and free so for £26 I pay a month great value 49379096-834oA.jpg

    New customers only ?
  13. Sniperil's avatar
Existing Customers - Check your account for upgrades. I have been offered Gig1 for extra £7.55 per month. Currently have M500 for £37.

Called them up to try and get it for £39.99 but told me its for new customers only and best deal was £44.55 for me (This was retentions I called also)

I've just looked at ours - £44.55 - seems the cost offered to existing customers.

What do you make of the wifi Boosters - they're free - but are they any good?
  14. Zodealo's avatar
Checked my upgrades I can go from 500 to 1gig for an extra £4.85 a month. Not sure it’s worth it!
    Trevbil's avatar
Don’t think so. 500 is fine. Except you have a really good excuse - which are few for a residential home
  15. jasonwood999's avatar
my current Virgin deal - is slower and nearly the same price (£38) - am I able to upgrade to this deal?
    KodaBear's avatar
Nope. You're not a new customer anymore. When you reach the end of your current contract you need to play the usual song and dance, threaten to leave, then haggle for the best deal you can.
  16. Quicklite's avatar
Pretty good. Getting it at £72pm at work so this is a bargain.
  17. chrisdicko22's avatar
Vodafone are currently doing full fibre 900mbs to areas that have it for £27 per month and installing the last leg of it to replace the old copper cable for free
    Thar's avatar
They offered it to me for £30 at weekend, where did you see it for £27?

Edit: I see there is a £3 discount for mobile customers, which I am not. (edited)

Deal is good, but it’s never 1GB download speed more like 500mb to 650mb via WiFi

Tried to upgrade as exisitng customer online, had to go through chat, speak with them, customer servie and retions and best they could offer was £57 Retentions did say to call back on the 1st as they should be able to get it closer to that price
    Horrorwood's avatar
Best to just cancel and wait for them to call you. Outbound retentions is the only ones that can beat new customer prices.

I’m on M250 package for £17.99 a month and get 32Mbps actual download speeds. It’s more than enough for family of 5, and running Plex media server
    KodaBear's avatar
I Hope you mean 32MBps rather than Mbps.

If you are paying for 250Mb and only getting 32Mb then something needs to be done whether that's with the Virgin Media network, or your internal setup.
  23. krazyasif786's avatar
I was offered £38 today for 1gig but still persistent on moving to Voda £32 and £125 voucher offer
    Winterwolf's avatar
Well Ive just given them my 30 days notice on my 500 plan. Lets hope they dont call my bluff, and offer me a better deal instead.

I'll bite their hand off if they offer me the gig for under £40 (edited)
