Be aware it's not the same MX500 drive as it used to be. It's far less reliable than it used to be.

    IMPORTANT UPDATE:

's post above is a very important post.

I am now beginning to reconsider my recommendation, given that Crucial have started to mess around with the internals of different batches over time.

If you buy this drive - it is important to update the firmware before anything else.

Secondly - check back every few months, for any update.

Lastly (at least quarterly) run the check tools mentioned in the reddit post to undertake a health check/mot of the drive, to catch any deterioration early.

For anyone that doesn't now. When an SSD 'goes' it is extremely difficult (if not impossible) to retrieve any data on it. Even if you send it off to specialists.

Would appreciate the views of fellow members on the above. Always open to learning something new.

Crucial had it on their page last week for £104. I'm going to wait. Hopefully gets down to that price again

Is it possible to fit one of these into a ideapad Gaming 3-15ACH6 Laptop - Type 82K2 ? What’s the best way to go about this? (edited)

MX500 is a great drive for the money. The DRAM makes a big difference!

Not the best price it's been on their website at least, but pretty good for a great quality drive like this.

Would this be overkill for just game storage on my PC? Is there better options for such use case?

It's a good option. I'm using the 1TB version. (edited)

Which one to take as replacement for an old storage HDD? Should buy external SSD or this internal + adapter (I currently use one 500gb for MacBook storage) or will NVMe will be better?

    Might go for this.
