This is great alarm, I just fitted one myself, its very easy to install and its very intuitive. You do not need to subscribe to use the alarm, so no on going costs unless you want to use the extra features that come with the sub.

The Subscription (£8 a month) gives some extra features including mobile connectivity to the alarm (if wifi goes down) so it may appeal to some people.

This is the 11 piece alarm kit with an extra indoor cam (making it 12 piece).

Quick to install, easy to use and completely customisable to fit every home, the Ring Alarm sends instant notifications to your phone whenever doors or windows are opened, or when motion is detected in your home.

Included in the 12pc kit is:

  • Base Station
  • Keypad
  • 4 x Contact Sensors
  • 3 x Motion Detectors
  • Range Extender
  • Outdoor Siren
  • Indoor Camera
Features

Real-time notifications

Receive notifications when any of your alarm sensors are triggered.

24-hour backup battery

Keep your home safe and secure, even if the power goes out.

Easy to Install

Everything you need for DIY installation comes in the box, so you can easily set up the Alarm in minutes. Simply plug in the Base Station, activate the system via the Ring App and place the Contact Sensors, Motion Detectors and Outdoor Siren where you need them.

Now Featuring an Outdoor Siren

Install the Outdoor Siren outside your home, and in the event of an emergency the adjustable volume siren and flashing LED lights will alert others and help identify your property, quickly.

Meet your Security Team

  • Base Station - The brains behind it all. Keeps your alarms and sensors connected to each other and provides up to 24 hour battery power if your power goes down.
  • Keypad - Allows you to control your system inside your home with a battery powered keypad. Mount to any flat wall, or leave it on a nearby surface for everyday convenience.
  • Motion Detector - Smart enough to ignore pets, while detecting intruders. Mount to room corners or flat walls and get real time notifications when motion is detected.
  • Contact Sensor - A compact, secure sensor that can be mounted to doors or window frames, so you know when they’re open.
  • Range Extender - This helps extend the signal from your Alarm Base Station to all components, ensuring security coverage stays strong and clear.
  • Outdoor Siren - Now with additional deterrence, install the outdoor siren and in the event of an emergency, the adjustable volume siren and flashing LED lights will alert others and identify your property quickly.
Indoor Camera:

  • Watch over your home in 1080p HD video and check-in at any time with Live View
  • See, hear and speak to people on camera from your phone or tablet

No WiFi, no data no alarm. Just see the light and have a proper alarm installed

Wrong it has a SIM card in it if you pay subscription it’ll work without Wi-Fi

Is this relying on the Ring servers? IE if they decide to stop supporting it in a few years, am I left with a bunch of paperweights or will I still be able to use the alarm?

I doubt they will stop supporting the system any time soon.

Do you have to pay a subscription on this? Like yearly?
    chrb's avatar
If you want it monitored its £80, but that really just means they give you a call if it's sounding

Heat! Really good price with the outdoor siren and the inside camera too! (edited)

Or better option get normal alarm system fitted by local companies often warranteed. Ring put prices up recently very greedy will charge subscriptions for any decent features. Pay and keep paying.

Fake news. Just don't pay the sub. It's still the best alarm without it. An alarm from an installer would be 3 to 10 times the cost and would have half the functionality.

I'd be interested to see your calcs on how that's cost effective?

Just wondering about all of the messages here so I set my alarm ( which is not under contract) notification comes to my phone that its been armed, and then walked into the kitchen which triggers the PIR and set off the alarm, notification came to my phone that the Kitchen PIR detected movement so reset the system and notification came to my phone that the system changed to Disarmed.
System is connected to my wifi and shows event history and I can look inside my home to check if its OK, only one camera inside the house, but you can add others.

Thanks OP. Great price. How can we trust them not to start charging even for the simple features?
    ukez's avatar
Buy it and pay more in subscription each month to benefit from features on the device that they could have gave you the capability to host yourself, it's a no brainer. Why wouldn't anyone want on going extra costs?

Great price, is this the latest version?
    slippers1977's avatar
Yep certainly looks like it based on the keypad

The 11th piece is a Ring sticker you can put on your house that you’re “protected”

Voted hot! Paid £250 for this without the camera and I felt it was a good price.

Not wanting to sound too much like a tin foil hatter but is no one concerned by the rise of these things? I find it utterly bizarre that people are willing to film themselves and their property and have that stream out in the ether.
Seems remarkable that people are willing to give up that sort of privacy for a gadget (edited)

I don’t have the camera set up
Still a great alarm system, just sell the camera on 🤷‍♂️ (edited)

Good system I’ve had it since it was first released.

if you have ring cameras you can set it up so if the alarm triggers the camera sirens 🚨 sound too.

This deal is currently available - probably on par with the one that starts on the 23rd -
    hotukdeals.com/dea…343
This comes with an extra video doorbell and 2 more contact sensors - So around £90 worth of kit extra

Fitted this system to my house around Christmas, its very easy to install and set up. I don’t pay any subscription and it works fine,When I triggered it then it sends a notification to my phone but that may have been during the free trial monitoring period, it links to Alexa and you can set it vocally or you can set it to warn you when your phone is a certain distance from home and the alarm is not set.
Don’t know if they might modify support later but it works fine at the moment, and if you take a check the cost of a professional installation you may put thecost of this into perspective. (edited)

Same I set my whole system up within an hour and I'm pretty impressed. Very easy install and no need to pay a sub!

Remember the biggest thing about taking a ring plan is that it warranties everything.
I have cameras/doorbells as well as the alarm.
Anything breaks (which they do) and they send you a new one.

I thinkt hats only if you starts a plan in the original warranty period and continue the plan
  16. fulabeer's avatar
I was pointing out for those who didn't know about the warranty aspect. Just looking a £8pm for alarm monitoring/Sim back up is a lot. However, i have 10 cameras/doorbells and a full alarm system. So for me the £8 is cheap etc.
  17. y-so-izi's avatar
Simplisafe is a far better option
    cigbunt's avatar
nope. because the brains of the operation is in the main chime and its dido shaped..
the ring brain can be hidden away its very slim.
and by the way don't assume im a ring fan boy as im looking for systems to get out of the ring eco system but currently nothing is worth moving for (edited)

If you don’t have the sub and the alarm activates , do you only get a live feed from the camera or can you play back any stored data to spot an intruder please ? Thank you
    BraddersJ's avatar
    Ring cams work like this:
If you pay for the sub, the recordings are saved to the cloud and can be viewed up to x amount of days back (might be 7 but check their website)

If you don't pay for the sub, the camera only shows live view (edited)
  19. Jamie_H1489's avatar
I have no issues with companies offering cloud services to enhance the experience if you so choose, but to charge what they do for the hardware and completely kneecap it if you don’t subscribe is just ridiculous. Having absolutely no way to have recordings locally has made my doorbell worthless after the trial expired. Luckily was a gift so didn’t pay for it but I refuse to have ANOTHER subscription service for a freaking doorbell.
    BraddersJ's avatar
Are you on the wrong thread? This is for the alarm which works perfectly without the sub.

Besides, I'm not sure I can see where you're coming from. Cloud storage is not free for them and it's not your God given right.

'But some cams do offer it for free? Ring don't do it because they're greedy!' - Welp, other manufacturers are all shutting that down now (likely before they leave the cam game) as they realise it's a money pit (edited)

Any other companies price matching this. I do not have a costco membership.
  21. jumbosausage's avatar
Price is £234.99 so needs updating (still a great price). Factor in £15 Costco online membership on top. (edited)

Considering moving from an old wired system to this, but just not sure if I should stick with wired as I'd be able to re-use all cabling in place.
Anyone who has been through similar change able to provide any thoughts?
Also, camera appears to be wired, anyone able to verify that?
    BraddersJ's avatar
First question is why do you want to move from wired?

I'm a big fan of the wireless systems but I've been doing some thinking about this as my parents face the same question as their (ancient) wired system is showing its age/playing up
