Finally available at £599 like the green and ‘white’. This my favourite colour of the bunch, if I was going to buy one.

Seems that lots of other retailers have dropped the price too, but I do like buying from Andersons.

Details

John Mayer fans rejoice! An affordable version of the modern blues-pop master's best-selling signature guitar is finally here — say hello to the PRS SE Silver Sky!

Strongly resembling Mayer's USA Core model with its elegant double-cutaway body, inverted PRS headstock and trio of single-coil pickups — the PRS SE Silver Sky is a versatile workhorse designed to provide similarly exquisite tones and familiar playability, but at a far more accessible price-point.

Features

  • Poplar Body — Often likened to Alder, Poplar is comparably balanced in sound with a slightly lighter feel.
  • Bolt-On Construction — Produces a snappy note response for an immediate playing experience.
  • 25.5" Scale Length — Provides optimal string tension; letting you dig in for funky "New Light"-style chords while allowing for soulful, expressive string bends.
  • Maple Neck with Original '635JM' Carve — Based on the same custom neck shape used for Mayer's USA Silver Sky. According to Lee Anderton, PRS "nailed" it! Features a satin-style finish for a natural playing feel.
  • Rosewood Fingerboard — A luxurious, silky material that enhances mid-range warmth. Comes fitted with 22 frets and boasts PRS' trademark 'Small Bird' inlays.
  • 8.5" Fingerboard Radius — Offers a slightly flatter and more contemporary feel than the vintage-inspired 7.25" radius on the Core Silver Sky.
  • 635JM "S" Pickups — Designed to capture the sound of the single-coils in the USA Silver Sky, these pickups "bark and sing" according to PRS!
  • 5-Way Pickup Switching — Provides a wide sonic palette; letting you isolate each pickup or combine the middle single-coil with the bridge/neck pickups for those classic "in-between" tones.
  • 2-Point Steel Tremolo — A reliable bridge that enables smooth vibrato whenever inspiration strikes.
  • Vintage-Style Tuners — Possess a classy, traditional look and allow for precise string pitching.
  • Included PRS SE Gig Bag — High-quality design ensures solid protection for the instrument.

Clearly more colours en route. I got the moon white just before Christmas and it’s an amazing guitar.

This proves the new colours and necks are coming next month at NAMM. Maple neck fretboard and hopefully acceptable colours.

why this over a MIM fender strat?

Quite simply it’s the better instrument. Iv had both Mexican and America strats and this is up there with the MIA all day. The only thing I had to do was add some relief on the neck and change the string gauge but that’s a preference thing. The setup was flawless. I have played MIA strats where the QC has been shocking. If you’re ok with the JM name (I am) and the SE give one a spin.

We were in Andertons Guildford for the first time as son wants to go to uni at Surrey - it's an amazing store! And only about 10mins walk from uni or station. Now to see if he can take his drum kit to uni!!
