They are pretty decent... Had mine about 8 months now. Don't need a subscription just add usb storage to the sync module. Great value... 🔥

I installed 3 of these and a ring doorbell on the same day. Ring doorbell is active 24/7, whereas these I only look into when I want to see what's happening outside. Otherwise only fully active to do alerts and recordings whilst I am away on holiday.

Fitted with AA Energizer lithium batteries and I am 3 months off 2 years from a single set of batteries.

I have caught some interesting wildlife in my back garden with these. For the price paid, it's well worth it for me.

Bonus is parcel deliveries.... the delivery man often looks into the camera before exaggerating his leaving the parcel on my doorstep. Haven't had a missing parcel since installation.

But as previously stated, if you need a 24/7 full security system, it may not be enough.

If someone wanted 6 outdoor Blink cameras,

Would they just simply buy x2 of this bundle and hook them up with 1 Sync Module ?

Or is there a limit to how many cameras you can use with 1 Sync Module ?
    hotdealuser2341's avatar
You get blink module with this, but
the page says it supports up to 10 devices
    Local Storage: Sync Module 2
Save motion clips and photos from up to 10 Blink cameras connected to the Blink Sync Module 2 locally in your home and view them through the Blink app or the computer by plugging in a USB flash drive (sold separately) for no additional fee

are these IP cameras or do I need to use the Blink app?
Would prefer to integrate with my MotioneyeOS Pi zeros
    dabe1971's avatar
You have to use the app

These are just no good… Picture quality is terrible, live feed takes ages to load up (not useful when needing to see something live), batteries needed changing every month, no battery life percent status, video footage limited to 60 seconds per event, with a cool off period of 10 seconds, no rich notifications (no snapshot preview when receiving alerts), poor app design, overall cheap feel to the cameras.

I had 2 of these and the doorbell… sold them and went with Ring instead. The user experience on Ring is flawless and the live feed loads up instantly with no lag.

And you can actually use Ring subscription-free. Google ‘Scrypted’.

That's actually quite handy bit of information that, somewhat. :-D

    Thanx.

Here's a few straighforward link thing's, etc - for those wondering too, etc ...

These are great apart from the battery life, for me i only got 6 weeks on the original set of Energizer ( heavy usage) 6 weeks is still impressive if you think about it! I cant see how anyone would get 2 years unless it never records! But i can confirm Hixon rechargeable aa lithium batteries work well with these,

Hixon newly upgraded aa rechargeable batteries can provide max 3A discharge current, which can meet more high-power demand device.Ultra powerful lithium aa batteris for blink camera

I have had them in for a month so far and still going strong...

Seems crazy having to replace the batteries on these every 6 weeks, why is it recording so much?

If you want a 24/7 system in a high traffic area, these aren't for you. But have them setup for overnight alerts, automatically scheduled to start sensing motion when you retire to bed and deactivate when you rise the next morning as I have and they're perfect.

We had a drunk guy in the wrong garden one night, trying to gain entry to what he thought was his house and we knew nothing about it until we discovered the damage in the garden where he'd tried to make a ladder out of our fence panel. The neighbours heard him and shooed him off and described what had happened to us the next day.

I installed 4 of the Gen 1 outdoor versions of these, three covering the backgarden and one the front door and I'm confident we would be alerted as it happened with these. Installed in October 2019 and 3 of the 4 are still going strong on their first batteries. The other, at the front door is only on it's second set of Energiser Lithiums. So depending on your expectations - they could be ideal. (edited)

Wow that's good battery life can i ask how many recordings do you get on average per day?
    dabe1971's avatar
Not that many. As I say, I wanted it as an 'alert' camera to warn us should we have any unwanted visitors so they are on a schedule to turn on around midnight and unarm around 0900 so we get a fair bit of 'school run' traffic on the Front Door camera which is why that's the battery set I've had to change. The cameras covering the garden used to be triggered by the occasional local cat, early bird and the odd hedgehog overnight but that's all and since we took on a new rescue dog about a year ago they are pretty much steering clear !

But they do activate each and every night for those 9 hours even if they aren't being triggered to record much but I'm glad I have them. They aren't a proper security setup for constant monitoring by any means but if our visitor ever returned I'd be aware so we could deal with it.

I'm sure this is a stupid question but do these need a wifi connection

    Yes lol

Has anyone used these indoors? They are much cheaper than the indoor alternative.
  14. AlexEvans-39769.77635's avatar
I know this is looking more like a q&a but can you view recordings via the mobile app? I have YI cameras but looking for wireless alternatives

It is a shame you have to pay subscription for Blink even if you have Ring subscription. Fair enough Blink and Ring are two different companies owned by Amazon so separate subsc, but I will rather get Ring outdoor cameras (when the price drops to something reasonable around Blink range) than paying another subscription for Blink.

But that's the good thing about blink you don't need a subscription at all the only thing you lose is live view recordings, but you could just use your phone screen recorder for that!
