"This bottling of a Secret Speyside distillery is part of the Cask Strength Collection from independent bottler Signatory Vintage. We are informed that this extremely popular distillery has been producing single malt Scotch whisky for nearly 200 years and starts with the letter M. This release was distilled on the 11th July 200 and aged for 17 years in a first fill Oloroso butt. This was then bottled on the 10th March 2023. One of 671 bottles, this was bottled at a cask strength of 57.%, as with all releases in the series, this is presented un-chillfiltered with no added colouring."

Anyone able to recommend a way to sell bottles of Whisky? I have a 25yr Highland Park bought around 2008. Looks like it's worth £500+ but not sure how you can sell it apart from via a Whisky Auctioneer? :/

Mine arrived today - prob won't gt to try it until the weekend.

First thoughts - it's a dark whisky - as you would expect for a cask strength. They packaged it really well too. (edited)

Amazing price for a 17 year old Macallan and I'm really really REALLY trying my hardest to resist heat from me Mr Bizmark!

Great deal if so and seems like you're pretty certain, have some heat!

Would you keep this unopened as an investment? Or buy two and drink one?! (edited)

I've got 4 of the 5 bottlings...drinkers for me. They're making around £40 quid profit at the moment...

Won't get many chances to have a cask strength single cask macallan for this price.

I absolutely do not need this whisky.

I have absolutely just ordered a bottle.

    THANKS OP.

Will not vote down because a 10% off whisky coupon is always great, though I'd prefer something else from their selection. Whiskybase reviews (take them for what they are) are not too good for this.

My hunch is it is Macallan, but without knowing definitively there's no value in it, because Macallan is simply a hyped up label people pay for. Whisky might actually be a lot more interesting if it were one of the others, especially mortlach.

That's my take on this, but still very glad it's been posted. Thanks, OP

    Scorching hot!!!
Yes it is Macallan. TWB had the same single cask bottle on their website a few days ago as I ordered it and their exclusive bottling. Looks like has sold out as it's not there now. It was £170 and even at that price for a Macallan it was a bargain.

    From the link:

We are informed that this extremely popular distillery has been producing single malt Scotch whisky for nearly 200 years and starts with the letter M

So there are four listed distilleries beginning with M in speyside:

    MacallanMannochmoreMiltonduffMortlach

Mannochmore was founded in 1971 - rules that out

Milton duff is a possibility having been created in 1824, mostly used in blends but has its own SM name of Mosstowie. However I would argue that it isn't exactly "extremely popular" as the link suggests

Mortlach - it could be. Founded in 1823 and is popular.

So really 50/50 chance of being a macallan - for £125 Id take the chance.

asking the question differently - if you're droppeding 125gbp for whiskey, what else would you look at?
    gmf2205's avatar
Probably something I've tasted first at that price! Would say this if heavy sherry is your thing... looks like the 10% off kicked it too.
