I am not usually one of those 'hold' people but this is old technology and the Quest 3 should be out by the autumn. I wouldn't be paying £300+ for something that is about to be replaced.

You're actually spot on here. While people are assuming the next model will be a higher price, I feel like they are missing a very important point.

Oculus dropped support for Quest 1 very quickly after Quest 2 launched. I was on the receiving end of that and it actually put me off buying a Quest 2 because I wasn't sure how long that would take to be dropped.

So now, Quest 3 does seem the more sensible option if you don't want to be locked out of features/software.

My Quest2 cost me £275.99 from Argos in Nov 2020. It was only 64GB but it seems crazy that it's old tech now and prices are still high. I hope Quest 3 will be a considerable step forward.

Maybe, but a three year old phone now would not be more expensive than at release. I guess there isn't the same competition.

Doesn't work on quest. People need to know they need a decent gaming pc to run that

I still have a Lenovo WMR from 2017. Thinking of upgrading soon, but not sure Quest 2 will be the big leap I'm looking for.

Tempted by the Quest Pro (~£700 on eBay) or maybe a Quest 3 later in the year.

Quest 2 is a massive leap forward from the Lenovo explorer, I did it. I'm now on a Pico 4 though

Population One is free for the Quest if anyone didn't know, that should get you started. Also you will get an OCULUS30 code from time to time when you don't buy any games for a few weeks. I don't buy anything without at least a 30% off code.

I used to see this pop up on Facebook.

Where do you see the code these days? Emailed?

Guys, why don't you compare this thing with the current situation on the market.
For its price, this headset is very good value, as it can work standalone, as well as wired/wireless to your PC.

Why do you have to compare it to their future headset that we don't even know its price. If you are trying to buy a VR headset now at this very moment, compare what you have available right now. PSVR2 , Quest2, Pico 4, HTC Vive and some older wired headsets like the Index or G2. I have it and if I am trying to buy one today - I will decide between PS5/PSVR2 combo or standalone like Quest2/Pico and this is cheaper and more accessible than PSVR2.
Yes, it is already old, but for that amount of money, standalone VR headet is very good value.

Not a Meta fan at all, just you sound like trying to stop people from one of the right choices if they are in the market to buy one today. Peace. (edited)

The current situation in the market is that it is an outdated headset. It uses an old chip, has already been superseded resolution-wise and it uses inferior lenses. It is a terrible purchase at £350.

I love how they make it sound like they’re giving you a deal.
Bump the price up £100, discount £50.
  8. Renegade211's avatar
Released 3 years ago, dated and more expensive
  9. Franky_1971's avatar
I bought this for £400 two years ago. Pointless getting it now with the Quest 3 being released soon. For £200 maybe worth it for old technology but £350 no way!!

This looks like it should be available from different retailers, JL has got this at the same price. Both versions come with 2 free games (by redemption).

Is this the same as occulus quest 2? I have a 256GB one I havent opened in almost 2 years.
    steevieboy4u's avatar
Yep, just renamed Meta (Facebook) now rather than Oculus
  12. willd93's avatar
Trying to sell my 256gb hard to know what the going price is on these
    K0YS's avatar
They go as cheap as 100£ on fb.
    Ebay is a lot higher

Not the best price for the 128GB model. I paid £299 for this exact one from Argos just over 1 year ago and it wasn't even on offer....
This would be a good price if it were the 256GB model.
    Jes1's avatar
They bumped the price by £100 in August last year, so it is the best price at this moment in time.

Do you need a Facebook account to use this

    No

I'm just about to buy a pico 4.

if you're going standalone, more game choice on the quest
if you're using pc, better resolution with the pico.

changing IPD on the quest is a pain and only 3 positions. its motorised on the pico.
and from what i've read. pico is more comfortable
    johnboylan12's avatar
    Better lenses too.

PSVR2 is great, I imagine this is alot of fun but I understand the tech is abit dated.
  17. HustlerZ's avatar
My advice: avoid, you will get more after 1 week.
    K0YS's avatar
What more do we get if we wait a week? (edited)
  18. dgh89's avatar
I paid £299 for this. They even had it for £250 at one point.
    doyle871's avatar
That's when Meta were selling it at a loss to try and corner the market. It was never going to stay that cheap.
  19. Fents's avatar
Facebook is full of people selling these who had them as gifts and used them once or twice and are now selling them for £200.

If you have a gaming PC HL Alyx is a phenomenal experience.
