Format it using "exFAT" in either and both will be able to write to it

Quick tip always keep this in your car then if your car breaks down phone the Seagate Rescue services tell them your data is at risk of being left in an abandoned car and if they don't swear at you down the phone I would say that's a definite win there. It's a slow day today no news of note so don't blame the messenger this is the best I could do on Sunday. I would normally be at Church on a Sunday but I stopped going in 1988 otherwise pretty average day.

8TB is a decent amount for this money. Can't grumble really. This isn't a backup drive though unless you have multiple copies of your data. If you only store your data on this, think what happens if this drive dies, gets stolen, abducted by Aliens, goes on fire etc. Always imagine where your data is in the event of a deeeeesaaster!

Always back up important data, this isn't a backup drive intrinsically, but it could be part of a backup plan. When you do in fact need to recover your data and this is part of the backup plan, you can say "I love it when a plan comes together" Cigar is optional as Science has found out they aren't good for you. Science does say backing up is very healthy for you especially your data. Please do it unless you make TikTok videos in that case yes this is the only backup you need and do remember to kick this down the stairs at least once a week after backing up just to keep it in tip top shape.

is this drive SMR or CMR?
so many are SMR these days and when they start to fill up the read/write rate drops through the floor!
but theres no drive model number on the specs on this amazon page so im guessing it will be a SMR ( shingled) drive

Seagate currently have 8x 8TB current models that are CMR.

In this model the Desktop Expansion I think its full name, is well documented to be SMR.

Where as in the My Book model, the 8TB is CMR on last check. (edited)

I wish a time would come when they'd be an 8TB portable HDD on the horizon too, like? ;-)

With that one, I'd DEFINITELY be allllllll 'in'. :-D

    Hehehehehehe.

The alternative would be the 5TB portable HDD's, at a half decent price. :-)

2.5" drives are kinda dead now. It's all about SSD.

I can't thank the manufacturers enough for this. It took me nearly 4 years to complete my color climax collection before my son accidentally dropped glue all over it. 1 quick phone call to the Dutch rescue helpline and they kindly cleaned up. (edited)

I am imagining your data to be strawberry flavoured and ribbed.

I was going to say yes but than remember size limit. 8TB is max for PS4 so assume same on PS5
