I paid with PayPal earlier today and other than the PayPal reciept I have nothing from PlanetX confirming the order, is this normal?

It often takes them 24 hours or so to confirm the order. Next day confirmation is what I've usually received from PX.
I've had a couple of Carnac helmets and they are stonkingly good value. They have to meet the same safety criteria as much more expensive lids.

Have ordered, thanks. The discount code ACPLX20 is still working as well. £11.98 delivered.

Awesome, thanks so much for sharing this! Just bought a bunch of things I didn't need

I've got this, good helmet. I paid about £25. I think this is a bargain for a budget helmet.

Air vents are fine if they have mesh otherwise you can get unlucky and catch a bee or waspie and that's painful and dangerous.

Mesh means less air flow which means less cooling. I’ve been stung before on my head with no mesh but prefer to be cooler in the Summer.

Why is delivery for me £6.99?
    AndLaz's avatar
Because you add other things expecting to get free delivery but it doesn't work like that with Planet x, they charge more if you order more

Are these like other PX lids? Ie. Only for your head if its basketball shaped? The strangest shaped helmets I've ever tried.

I’ve got one of these and much prefer it to many times more expensive Catlike helmets, really good quality helmet

How do these compare to helmets that are MIPS certified? Are they worth the extra expense? Thanks in advance.
    wantsomepls's avatar
These are not MIPS helmets. MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is basically an inner plastic helmet liner which slides on impact thereby theoretically reducing the rotational impact of a collision/fall with potentially lesser damage. Given the impossibility of any real-life control tests, the benefit is theoretical and not easily quantifiable but those based on crash-test dummies suggests a benefit. Whether that justifies the extra cost is a matter of personal choice. All legitimately sold helmets meet specific high safety standards. MIPS offers an added layer of at last theoretical protection but you'll probably never know how much difference (if any) it made if you do have a crash. I find my Specialised MIPS helmet slightly less comfortable to my non-MIPs ones (fit seems odder and it seems to slide around a bit unless really tight) but I tend to wear it around town where collisions are statistically more likely.
You pays your money and you takes your choice. (edited)
