Found this Apple TV 4K in my Local Currys store in Aylesbury for £63.97 and having a look around there’s nothing out there at that price for this amazing bit of tech. Maybe nationwide but worth having a check at your local Currys store.

Note that this has the SkyGO app on it - saves having to pay for multiroom!

*apparently you still have to pay for multiroom (but it does allow an additional unit). (edited)

So does it not work with just the 1st Gen 4K Apple TV? That's what I have and when I try to sign in to the SKY GO app, it says I need to be subscribed to the multi room package

Just picked one up from Cardiff Culverhouse. Looks like they had 2 in each store in a 10 mile radius although the place I tried first had none in stock.

You have to ask someone for a stock check in store as it won’t show up online.  For anyone wondering the product number is 314795 if you want to ring ahead. (edited)

Thank you for this, I just picked one up from culverhouse cross, which I believe was the last stock.

Whats the benifit of this over Firestick apart from the updates?.
    Limmy's avatar
It's an apple ecosystem device. Airplay etc. Nothing major, all streaming boxes are very similar.

Are these not a pain in the @ss to get Kodi working on?

Id highly recommend iPlay TV from the appstore or the iPlayTV AIO beta from testflight for free. They both support XStream logins and playlists, the first is more stable, the second has a more fluent ui and experimental. testflight.apple.com/joi…Gg0

I'd recommend the latest 3rd gen, but these machines outperform Firesticks and the Nvidia Shield, more features than Firesticks such as the ability to iCloud sync series and movie VODs between iOS and tvOS apps and pick up where you left off, and 4K playback, surround sound support is great.

    Any available around London?
    balks79's avatar
None available in or around south west London. The manager checked for me.

Heat, but might be worth adding this is a second gen Apple TV 4K.
    oktobr's avatar
As long as it’s newer than the 1st gen with its horrific remote.

Tried the Fareham store on my way home from work. Said they had one last week but it had gone.

Checked the system anyway which confirmed no stock in any of the nearby stores.

Just picked up the only one left they had in the back at the Birmingham Highgate store. It was the 64GB model priced at £80.97 rather than the 32GB model in this deal – still the 2nd Gen 4K line, though, so a great price!

Went into Crawley store and they only had the current model. The assistant showed me his screen and sure enough this 2nd gen model was on there at the price OP paid, but there was no stock available anywhere local.

Looks like OP got super lucky!

    Thanks! saved me a drive.

Anyone who got one look in to Infuse for video playback
    Popeye_the_Sailor's avatar
Are they apps? Will they work on 1st gen 4K?
  11. wazLuque's avatar
There’s one in Teeside Park and Darlington stores
  12. CaptainSlog's avatar
Thanks OP and for product code - I just bought the last one in Ipswich. Absolute bargain!
Had to ask then to check clearance stock as its not listed on their main system. I couldn’t find any way to check by phone as it’s impossible to actually call a store! (edited)

Don’t bother looking in the Norwich store. They don’t stock Apple TV - online order to store only. First couple of staff I asked didn’t even know what an Apple TV box is. Hopeless.

Thanks, you’ve saved me a trip!

Just been to the Swindon store, they only have the latest model for £149

Are these just for anyone who doesn't have access to the Apple app on smart TVs? What is beneficial of owning this comparatively expensive streaming device?
    mutav's avatar
Privacy and security are two things - smart TVs that stop getting software updates within a couple of years are  a security risk and who knows what data is siphoned off even when working as designed.  Using Apple TV you can disconnect your smart tv from the internet and still have access to online content. Apple devices typically get security updates for well over 5 years. (edited)

Just picked another one up in Sittingbourne.

If anyone wants the HD version then they have that at £55

Bournemouth mallard road store had the 32gb 1080p Gen 2 at £63.97 to clear earlier today.
    anuruddha's avatar
    Did they dispplay it outside?

Just popped into the Carlisle store to collect a camera bag, had a wander round the store and picked up the 64gb version for £72.97, they had still one more left in the basket .

I looked online but only 3rd gen is showing, you think there will be stock of this one nationwide?

I’ve got an Apple TV 4K gen 1 and 2, apart from the remote, you won’t tell a difference. I’m pumping Dolby vision content on a 65 inch OLED on both of them.
  29. jerrysimon's avatar
Had one for about a year. Transformed the aging slow os on my 4 year old OLED Tv 🤪

Has a great feature where it brings all the content you are watching from different streamed channels into one menu. If you love iOS it basically your iPhone screen on the Tv. Added bonus of super fast mirroring from you actual iPhone/Mac

Paid £95 for mine from CEX so this is a bargain (edited)

  30. Dickz's avatar
Great price, is this Wi-Fi only or with an Ethernet connection?
    jerrysimon's avatar
Either. I have mine wired in
  31. Dickz's avatar
I already have a gen 1 4K ATV running on a tv in a spare room and have only just discovered plex and what blew me away is how easy it is to setup on a Mac mini acting as a server to the client software setup on the ATV. Massive improvement over the VLC setup I had before!!!
    jerrysimon's avatar
Ran plex on an Apple Mini for years when I got it in 2011.

I love my Apple TV, I picked up a 4K 3rd Gen brand new on ebay for £85. If you're in the Apple ecosystem and are moving from a firestick, its well worth the upgrade. These outperform the Nvidia Shield by a mile.

Shield Pro is the better choice if you're after True HD Atmos/DTS:X playback, but I use my Apple TV for everything else. Doesn't crash as often (edited)
  34. DJ.Mole's avatar
Whats diff between this and 3rd?
    Nuttydev's avatar
Faster chip (A15 vs A12X in the 2nd gen), smaller device, HDMI 2.1 that isn't utilised, 32GB vs 64GB base storage and the 3rd gen 64GB doesn't come with an ethernet port. Will be supported longer but not really not worth an extra £86 over this if you can find it for £64. (edited)
