Prices are still way to high, the oil majors are filling their boots....

Oil and gas giant Shell has reported record annual profits after energy prices surged last year following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Profits hit $39.9bn (£32.2bn) in 2022, double the previous year's total and the highest in its 115-year history.

It would be way less than £1 per litre if the tories weren’t rinsing us dry. Oil companies aren’t 100% to blame

Good deal but slight typo! Diesel £139.9.

    That’s also a typo - should be 139.9p/L

About time petrol & diesel prices were virtually on a par. Heat added.

Most of the Country Durham stations, and those across the way towards Hamsterley are far cheaper than anything north of Washington Services. Its crazy that it's almost £1.40p a litre for diesel here and then Washington Services are charging £1.85 and upwards, only a few miles away. My local BP/Londis Garage in South Shields is £154.9 for diesel at the moment, while the Esso garage two mins away is charging £160, and Asda is only a penny cheaper at £159.

That's my local petrol station. They have been offering the lowest fuel prices in the area for a good few months. With that comes queues and road blockages as it's only a small petrol station so don't go during peak times, but do pick up a pint of milk or a snack or something as a thanks for not ripping us consumers off like the big boys do. Nice to see a local deal on here (edited)

My local petrol station too. My hubby went to get his lotto there tonight but, ended up going to Morrisons as the queue was so long. They’re doing a roaring trade

I have a car that can only take premium fuel, but in my area, a litre of premium is only 1p more than Costco, this doesn't really makeup for te £30pa membership fee.

Was in North Wales last week, Diesel similar price to petrol. Here in Yorkshire it's 15-20p/lt more than petrol.

It's a good price, and my local-ish garage too, but they're not doing it out of some sort of gesture to the local populace. They blitz the hell out of it on Social Media and they're usually like 0.2p cheaper than nearby but score the 'cheapest' label as a result. They're just selling it through at near cost, but then making a profit on the additional footfall to the shop. They hype it enough to get the volume of customers through.

I'm not knocking the cheap price and you don't have to buy anything in their shop lol but that's the economics of it and their tactics and it must be working for them if they're still doing it.

It's only cheap to locals or passers by; if you have to make a special trip, it only takes a mile or two's diversion and you've lost that amazing 1 or 2p saving lol
