Simple cooking tip for rice, wash rice thoroughly until water is clear or clearish. Even out rice in pan so that the rice is not slanted to one side. The amount of water should not exceed above an inch over the level of rice in the pan. I use the first line on my index finger(2,1/4 cm) to measure the water level, 9 times out of 10 this method would be fine. Cook for approx 20 mins on medium to low on cooker. When the water has absorbed, turn off hob, leave covered 8-10 mins, done. No draining required. I've been using this brand of rice for many years.

I saw the deal in store but it had this month a use by date

Generally - the older (Aged) the rice gets the better. So I wouldn't worry about the use by date. This is something the supermarkets have to do.

Bought a massive bag of this from Amazon recently. It's absolutely terrible - the worst rice I've ever made. I followed the instructions on the packet to the letter which expects you to cook it in excess water and then drain - despite putting tons of water the rice absorbed ALL of the water in 10 mins and turned to a solid mush. Worst rice ever and definitely the worst Basmati rice I've ever cooked. Have they even bothered to test their cooking instructions?? Don't buy this. (edited)

Bro. It’s just rice. Cooking rice is literally about putting 3:1 water to rice ratio, put in cooker, let it have 4/5 whistles in case of pressure cooker, wait for steam to subside and job is a good un. This alongside Tilda and Kohinoor are excellent; except Laila is way cheaper. (edited)

The laila rice is still in stock peeps. Some stores may be out of stock. But this does not mean it is out of stock nationwide. I have just taken a screenshot showing I can add to basket, hence it is in stock. 👇

In store price in Chandlers Ford is £2, and as far as CS was concerned, online and instore offers are completely different, this is despite the fact that home delivery is pulled from the same shelves
