Mine is called my wife

I don't know how anyone lives without a rice cooker. We use our one every day.

I bought my brother one of these last Christmas, he insisted that was what he wanted. I expected it to be used twice and then go straight in the cupboard and never see the light of day again, along with the blender. Surprisingly it gets used a lot & doesn't take up much space...the cat loved the box in came in too.

Mine is called Ben. Uncle Ben.

I have a rice cooker. It's called a pot.

So much tinfoil BS in that link, and the site is basically a scam aimed at really, really, really, really stupid people (...mostly Americans I think)

Yes maybe but anyway according to the article you can get 'compete protection' for only $299 I just love articles with no references :)

Probably ok if you mix it immediately with strong curry so you can't taste the yuuky taste of the rice itself and if it hasn't disintegrated anyway into mush

Better to use a microwave it never burns the rice - these things always fail after time! Must try the pressure cooker option sounds interesting Some nice quality Green Dragon Thai Fragrant Rice but any rice will do! Pop it in the ceramic breakfast cereal pot half fill - then half fill with boiled water (must use already boiled water for this to work properly), add one or two teaspoons of sugar Place in microwave at full for 3 mins Remove and break up and stir the rice Add half a tin of coconut milk Pop back in for 6 mins until the rice starts to pop over the lip of the ceramic pot and push itself up Thats when you know it wont be wet and sloppy - i prefer nice dry and sticky rice Add some more coconut milk if you fancy , sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper and a squeeze of lemon or fresh lime! Done in less than 10 mins. Bung on Thai curry or whatever you fancy - I can highly recommend Iceland Sri Lankan curry - one of the best frozen curries I have tasted , add yer greens and its done! Who says you cant eat well and cheap!

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/cookworks-pressure-cooker-reduced-from-2499-to-1599-argos-free-cc-2969635 or Ebay link to Argos's shop version Loads of the links say 1:1 water with the modern pressure cookers. I find it varies by the rice you have. Basmati is great 1:1, the white rice I have needs 1 rice to 1.25 water and it's really good for fried rice the next day, or spread it on a tray in the freezer and use a few hours later. I do six minutes once it hits pressure, then turn off and leave it for another 12 minutes. Half way through if you tilt the cooker the condensation on the lid will run down and get absorbed, too.

Do you have a link to the pressure cooker you have? Have been debating getting one.

totally agree, having tried a rice cooker and then an electric pressure cooker i ditched my rice cooker first chance i got as the pressure cooker makes a heck of a lot better job.

seen them recently on clearance in Tesco for £9 as part of their big clearance they been doing lately

Can’t just assume everyone can cook rice can you. It’s a pointless discussion/argument.. but believe me, there is a lot of people who don’t know how to, or daren’t cook their own

Don't see why they should be. Anyone can surely boil a pan? And everyone nowadays has cookery classes at school, I think. Not sure about washing the rice. Maybe if you buy some super organic version?

I know how to cook rice, but some people aren’t confident in the kitchen. And you should wash the rice before hand really

It really is dead simple, even I can do it, one volume of rice to two volumes of water, bring to the boil. Cover and switch off. Wait about 20 minutes until all the water has been absorbed. Done! Some people wash the rice first but it really isn't necessary

Some people don’t have the time to make their own rice, and although it’s easy for some to do, it can be hard for others to get it right

I-Shushi Premium Sushi Rice 10 kg | £10.99 @ Amazon Prime Only
Found 17th JulFound 17th Jul
It's very cheap for sushi rice. Save me the effort from carry something like this from supermarket to home too!

The 5kg bags are £12 each or £48 for 20kg S&S is available on the 5kg bags to lower the price further Not as good as your 20kg price but decent if someone wants to order now

Thanks, just cancelled my order. It is surprise to know that YUTAKA produce good product.

Bought this last year for similar price on S&S. Not really what I would call Sushi rice and quite low quality and bland. You get what you pay for. You're better off getting two bags of 5kg Jasmine rice from Sainsburys for £5.50 each. I also managed to get three bags of this for £22 each (Product of Italy) on subscribe & save and the quality was amazing, Price is now £57 but worth setting a camel camel price alert for it.

Many good reviews. Will give it a try. However review suggest origin is Italy and may be different to your usual Japanese rice. Question: Where is the country of origin? the product information says japan but from the picture it shows as 'product of eu'. i am confused Answer: HI,IT IS NOT JAPAN,MAYBE ITALY ,TO ME ,IT IS NOT TOO BAD .HOPE THIS CAN HELP . By ke liu on 20 October 2017It says Italy on the package By ying on 20 October 2017 It is definitely not Shushi rice. The characters on the package says in Chinese "North East rice", which is the name of a type of Chinese rice produced in North East of China. I bought it before and I am sure it is not the real Shushi rice. By W Tang on 20 October 2017
