Tilda Firecracker Hot Basmati Rice Only 50p in Iceland.

I am indeed - Except when they're playing Everton :)

Would it be fair to say that you are a Pilau fan?

New Brighton store had Lime & Coriander, Coconut, and Brown Basmatic (Only 2) varieties left. I took the last 6 firerackers. I've never even tried it before...Had it been the pilau I'd have cleared the shelf, then gone into the storeroom & cleared any in there too. ......I like pilau rice, me (pirate) .

Tilda at this price, can’t go wrong.

Love Tilda pouches. You are right, these are the cheapest ever I have come across !

For £5.

Always a good thing to check shipping weight too. Just to double check what you should receive, got about 5 boxes of 6 I in my store cupboard now. Another good one if you happen to like porridge, oomf apple and cinnamon. You get something like 5 or 6 boxes in that too. The other flavours for the same amount are £25+

Yep :)

I seen the bars, do you actually get 6 packs of 6?

We have a few of the range on sub and save. The banana oaty bars and 2.75 atm for 6 boxes and they have fruit but no added sugar. Bought for kids packed lunches as we are trying to remove added sugar from their diets.

https://groceries.asda.com/product/rice/salaam-basmati-rice/910000819507 This one is £5 and is 100% basmati

Nice rice, but huge packet (I realise this should be obvious....) I bought it by mistake on an online shop and it's taken months to plough through it!

think a lot of these rice now say long grain basmati rice , presumably this is 70% long grain the other 30% basmati there's nothing wrong with long grain rice , can't complain at 80p per kg

Tilda 1kg Long Grain Rice for £1 in B&M instore Barking

Tilda rice is the best in my opinion, although some shops overcharge you for it, however if you usually buy long grain from a supermarket, you'll stop once you try this, as long as you get it at a reasonable price

Always this price...

Its always this price how can it be a deal i get mine from my local Home Bargains???

Yeah it's always this price in the B&M in Bristol. Can often get the Basmati one for the same price too! But either way, good deal

I've been buying this from B&M for ages. It's pretty good, and very convenient: no need to rinse, and cooks in 12 minutes.

Is this any good compared to the Japanese owned / run Nishiki (California) or Yumenishiki (Italy)? Obviously the stuff grown in Japan is far more expensive. Had been stupidly buying expensive 500g bags of sushi rice from Waitrose for a few months, then bought a 10kg Yumenishiki and was reminded how much better that stuff is. Depends on the product. The quality stuff made in Japan will state the region, but the text will all be Japanese. If there's a sticker attached for the import market it will probably just say Product of Japan.

I know but the packaging will say Product of Japan. It will not state what region it was grown.

Not all Japanese rice come from Fukushima!

Might be a good thing that it's not Japan. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/01/19/business/fukushima-scale-back-rice-radiation-checks/#.WrV1xUx2sv0

Sounds lush :) Product of EU though not Japan.

This is a great rice at a good price. Nice.

Went looking for this and got stuck in an endless loop. 'Got the £5 rice?' I asked, 'Salaam?' 'Wa-Alaikum-Salaam!' he says. 'No', I say, 'the £5 rice - Salaam.' 'Wa-Alaikum-Salaam!' he says. 'Nah mate, the rice. Salaam?' 'Wa-Alaikum-Salaam!' he says. Got away after 10 minutes :)

Not sure what kind of rice it is. Doesn't look like Basmati, just says Nishaan superior rice blend? . Update: Long Grain Rice (70%), Basmati Rice (30%) Reduced from £4.50 to £4.00, so I'll give it a miss, thanks. Cooking Guidelines: Hob - From Ambient. Wash 250g of Nishaan Superior Rice Blend thoroughly and soak for 20 minutes. Add rice to 2 pints of lightly salted boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes. Drain in a sieve. Transfer the rice into a serving bowl and stir in a little butter or margarine to maintain separation of grain - then serve.

Depends which one from Kohinoor as they do 3 different types. I think top premium one is platinum Rice. Any thing around £1 per Kg is excellent price for really good Rice.

Laila is much better in taste than Kohinoor. I always buy few months worth of Laila when on offer. Best Rice
