Still not something I’d want to eat 4/5 times a week!

whok1844

It's nothing to do with budget rice is the carb portion of the meal instead of potatoes or pasta.

BadMF

Why on earth would you eat rice 4 to 5 times a week? Even on a very restricted budget, there’s other food available.

Patr100

Cue the posts of people telling us all how they cook rice on a stove....

Toilet

I got this recently and used it 3 times now. The coating is still good as new, just follow instructions not to wash the rice in the pot as it is abrasive. As soon as the rice is cooked turn off the socket and leave the rice it does not need to keep warm otherwise it will leave a crusty bottom and will not be good for the coating.

Lord.vader

I notice a small difference but it's negligible. Not anywhere near the difference milk has. Oats my favorite too with Rice a close second but I only have it in tea or to cook with--can't stomach it in cereal.

derbyco1_.

Nope, exactly the same.

hanalei

I’ll get a few in as back ups, but I switched to making my own milk recently. Soak some nuts overnight, then blitz with fresh water and strain. The ingredients lists and sugar content on mostcommercial versions are unnerving to say the least.

Eez1

Not sure if its store specific but the local express was still charging £1.80

D00nhamer

Do the long life versions taste any different to the fresh? Are they UHT like long life cows milk, which tastes totally different to fresh?

Roflmao Quality reply. (highfive) If I may interject, I find that if you use your fingernail in rapid back and forth motion the heat from your exertion melts the plastic through friction on that bad boy plastic rendering it amenable to plastic separation! (shock)

Mire.Mare

Not really, tried to peel back the seal on that pouch of sexy sticky hot rice with my finger and thumb without success however after introducing a blade of Sheffield's finest stainless steel I was able to alleviate the lady boy goodness from its tight sexy packaging. Your welcome. MM

Aldi easy cook rice is what it says, done some for to nights stir fry ,as usual all separate grains and tastes lovely with salt and pepper.

paulo

It's only a blend of long grain and basmati rice, you can usually find basmati rice at around £5 for a 5 kilo bag anyway.

brommy

I rate the Kohinoor ‘extra long” basmati in the gold bag. Typically around £18 for 10 kg (so at full price it is not much cheaper than Tilda), but it’s currently £14 for 10kg in Tesco and Sainsbury.
