I never get why Cube don't get more love, they're excellent bikes

Why not a one-by system, surely cheaper to produce and much better on a mtb

not really, x1 would need a clutch mech and a narrow wide chainring, and even then its not as simple as just taking that double crankset and adding the narrow wide ring

Highly recommend Cube I have never had a problem with my bike.
This is the one I bought years ago from a local bike shop.

How would that ever be worth over £600 normally with a basic drivetrain with poor chain retention and a very basic fork? Also bear in mind Cube I think has low weight limits and short frame warranty compared to many brands. Looks an awful deal to me. Cube use pretty basic factories in Asia like Bangladesh and saw a Cube model where the inside of the seat tube hadn't been de-burred and was scratching the saddle post. This would be a good buy at £250 but at over £400 no way. The basic 30mm stanchions of the forks would only be ok for lighter riders if used off-road properly and the fork is extremely basic so won't perform well. The single 5 star review on the Chain Reaction site seems to be a paid for review with the review from someone who got the bike for free by the looks of it. You should buy bikes by spec mainly not which brand stickers are applied to the bike. Personally can't see the value here.

For commuting to work (10 mins) is it worth getting a MTB if the plan is to go to mountain once a month ? Will the commuting be very different comparing to a hybrid or road bike ?
    y_knot_me's avatar
I find my MTB much slower on the road Gravel and hybrid are a much nicer commute. It depends what type of mountain you'll be doing once a month. If it's only 10 mins to work you will hardly feel the benefit so get a full sus.
