The shape is very supportive with the sweep towards the rear and drop at the nose. This nose has enough width to allow you to shift forwards on steep climbs or when you're really powering along - you can alter your riding position.

sorted byBUT having used cheap soft saddles for years I have to say these really are, counterintuitively to me, very comfortable, even for casual cyclists. And no I don't own any padded shorts.
I found that pain decreased when my cycling conditioning got better as my tush got used to cycling more.
Generally, the comfort of this saddle is over-hyped on the internet. But it's a good starting point for a beginner cyclist.
