Exynos heats up and throttles quicker under extended high use scenarios.
Exynos has better battery life.
Some faults may not be apparent straight away. Shame. I was ready to pull the trigger on the next pristine that came in stock
As well as the gouges on the edge, the phone has 20% battery degredation and most photos are blurry or lack detail. (in many cases not as good photos as my M51).
So I have requested a return and full refund as phone is not as described. (edited)
Where do we think these are from, Samsung getting rid parts? They are all over eBay and Amazon.
Quid @ 4.50 also for those without TCB. (edited)
Maybe they are releasing other colours periodically.
No idea where they get them.
4Gadgets seems to be a respected seller, I didn't want to risk ebay (nowhere near as cheap as this anyway)
I did get one from an Amazon marketplace deal posted in the past, but it wasn't pristine as advertised so it went back.
People generally seem happy with this seller so I'm very happy to order. (edited)
RAM + Storage
16GB + 512GB
The Note 20 Ultra was released only around 5 months before, so still a very formidable device - compare differences here gsmarena.com/com…596
One of my cousins uses a Note9 from 2 years previous to yours (2018) & still doing fine - except for battery life, which has deteriorated over the years.
Excellent S21 Ultra 256GB is £315 . Personally, 256GB is more than enough for me (edited)
I'm upgrading from a 128GB note 9 with SD card, so already at 160GB. The lack of SD cards in phones concerns me so I've gone for 512GB. I'll probably have this new phone for 4 years, so maximum storage makes sense to me.
Ymmv
The S21 family supports the use of up to 2 nano-SIM cards and also offers eSIM support.
Dual SIM can be a combination of 2 physical SIM cards or 1 physical SIM card and an eSIM.
Please note: eSIMs are provided by your mobile network provider. Please contact your network for more details about eSIM support
So not pristine IMO.
I'll have a play and decide if its going back or not. (edited)
One tiny chip, but its less than half a mm across, looks worse in the photo.
Other than that it’s scratch-free and can’t see any screen issues.
Though was clearly a dirty phone at one point!.
Lots of crap in it, and not even a razor blade would fit in there to clean it out…not that I would!.
Camera is amazing.
No focus issues as others have mentioned.
Did get warm the first time I used it, could imagine it getting too hot if trying to record a whole football match or concert in 4k.
But yep, needs a good testing out for battery life and everything else.
For an ‘excellent’ at £309, I’m overall happy currently.
Phone arrived fairly pristine - to my surprise.
Battery was completely out of charge though, so charging now then will run AccuBattery to see what it says.
The 10x camera is... not focussing >_< I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't many of their stock to be honest. A quick google search reveals how common a fault it is and since any buyer (worth their salt) will likely test this, the issue renders the device practically worthless to me in the future. A real shame considering I was really looking forward to finally having a recent phone with a good camera
It seems that they have got a load of returns or trade ins and not checked as well as we had hoped.
I would have to spend all day running benchmarks and testing every feature and hardware with them, just to be sure.
If anything, it has opened my eyes to say that I am impressed with the Camera.
Currently have a One Plus 7T (that was powerful for the cash at the time) and my requirements have changed. I just want a really good camera, NFC and a decent screen with good sound. Not too fussed on games anymore.
I will be leaving them a suitable review...
I do think that Pristine should be indistinguishable from new. In other words, new, but can't be sold as new.
After all, Pristine does come at a premium price.
Will post an update when it arrives.
30 day returns and 1 year guarantee, can’t fault that.
ITS £315 AFTER CODE
Thanks OP.
Super phone can go wrong
I use my S9 with sky player and would miss this. Does anyone on here use a S20 or above for VR playback?
It better be pristine as advertised....I've already got a case and I have a 45w charger on order
(I know it won't charge at 45w...I'm just planning ahead)
I was looking at buying one of these and was stuck between a Silver 512gb Excellent or a 256gb Titanium Pristine.
I would have thought Pristine would have been like new.
Seeing a few issues on here with scratches and screen burn, seems a real lottery.
I wonder if they will sell them new for a little bit more soon. Deffo like the idea of the Camera upgrade from my OnePlus 7T
I have asked if they will swap the battery, after all, they are selling them as 'refurbished'.
They have not answered yet, but I'm not hopeful. If they won't, I will check what refurbishment they actually perform, as a wipe over witha damp cloth is not enough.
I would say mint screen and mint back, tiny marks one edges, little mark on bottom left corner on the front. As it is Phantom Blue, marks hardly show.
Currently charging to assess battery status.
I will probably keep one.
I am at 160GB on my note 9, so I'm hoping the 512GB will last me 4 years or so.
To be honest, I should a also clean out my photos. They are all auto copied to the cloud, so don't need on my phone. But it's so handy to have at my fingertips.
I considered the note 20 ultra, but it's the 10x optical zoom on the S21 that did it for me.
I don't think the note has that. (edited)
How likely will they come back in stock? or do you think they are just clearing some inventory?
When I ordered, silver was the only colour, but someone saw brown was available later.
I agree with buying pristine. I bought Excellent from an amazon deal a few weeks ago...not supposed to have visible marks from 30cm, but it did, so it went back.
Hopefully this pristine will be just that.
I'm very happy so far. If you check my pictures, you will see the following:
Minor marks on the bottom edge, hardly visible to the naked eye, but the camers exaggerates massively.
Same on the top edge, sides seem unmarked.
I want to stress that the marks shown are barely visible, and completely acceptable. You cannot feel anything with fingertips or the edge of a nail.
The back looks like it 'may' have a little touch of discolouration just below the camera bump. Again, hardly noticable and acceptable.
Screen appears perfect when off. I cannot see any screen burn but more tests needed.
No gunk in the holes/ports, or the edges of the screen.
Camera appears to autofocus at 10x, more tests needed.
Came with 18% charge, went down to under 15% whilst setting up etc. (I only signed into google, nothing else, just to install accubattery)
Now charging whilst screen off to determine battery health estimate. Standard charging, not fast or superfast.
Overall I am happy that this is probably as close to new as you can get, physically, with a 'refurbished' phone.
As long as the battery health is acceptable, an no other issues appear after more checks with the camera etc. then I'll be keeping this one.
(edited)
Such a shame as the phone is acceptable otherwise, I just feel 78% is too low.

I honestly feel very lucky with the two I received. The silver one (that I am not keeping) is honestly in amazing condition compared to the one's I have seen on this thread. If I had not been concerned about the battery (I may have been over critcal of that) I would have been over the moon with it.
All in all, a company who have had my money for two and a half weeks and wasted my time at least for half of that by not quality controlling their replacements doesn't deserve my money. well done to anyone who managed to get what they paid for, but this seems about as reliable as ordering from cex in my opinion.
Very soar exp.
My return reached them on 5th. I had opted for refund and no communication since.
Appalling company
