I received my Surface in good condition with minor scratches and blemishes on the back which doesn't bother me personally as it will be covered by a case. The keyboard and stylus were both ruined so don't buy from this seller unless you are willing to take a chance on quality or are unconcerned about having products working but cosmetically ruined. To be honest the state of the keyboard they sent was shocking so I would just avoid.

You can get an adaptor of you have a suitable charger / power pack: amzn.eu/d/6…ckv

The newer Surface pro 7 has usb-c (edited)

    Cheaper with this seller
    ebay.co.uk/itm…8-0

    128gb £144
    256gb £176.

I'm tempted to purchase the 256gb model, but put off with refurbished products. (edited)

Does anyone know if these charge with USB and what the power requirements are?

They charge from a proprietary connector "surface connector" using a 44w charger.
You can get an adapter to charge using usb.

On the side there is also a usb3 and mini display port. (edited)

Bought one from the previous deal, not a bad little tablet/pc I use it for my guitar and to play/stream games which it easily does. So far it's managed to play Arkham Asylum, GTA4 (installed an ran on tablet ) and other simpler games with reduced resolution, streaming anything via GforceNow/Steam/Ubisoft (using my gaming pc as the source) works perfectly at all resolutions. How would this compare to a desktop with a AMD FX 6300 3.5GHZ processor and 8gb of ram? My desktop doesn't get much usage tbh and was thinking of getting something a little more portable to replace it.

The 6300 is a slightly faster CPU, but with faster ram and storage, this will feel quicker to use.

does this model suffer from the same issues as surface pro 4, like the swollen battery?

I got mine from the same seller almost a year ago, no issues so far. I had an SP4 too and it didn't suffer from that issue either. (edited)

Received my surface and condition is great. No marks on the screen and minor marks on corners. Ran battery report which is 62% remaining with 198 cycle counts. Can anyone advise whether this is actually good battery condition given its age or worth asking for a replacement?

will these run you tube netflix and disney etc ok?

Yes of course, but battery life is not great. If that's your main usage and you need good battery life then you might be better off with a tablet.
