I am guessing these have limited stock, thought worth a share at £69 in as new condition, don't top up the sim on arrival, total cost £69

iPhone 7 is splash, water and dust resistant, and were tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529. Splash, water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions.

Liquid damage not covered under warranty.

  • iPhone 7 dramatically improves the most important aspects of the iPhone experience.
  • It introduces advanced new camera systems.
  • The best performance and battery life ever in an iPhone.
  • Immersive stereo speakers.
  • The brightest, most colourful iPhone display.
  • Splash and water resistance.
  • 1 And it looks every bit as powerful as it is. This is iPhone 7

Ordered one last time and it was delivered in such a state. Returns was a hassle too.

I wouldn’t bother, it’s still a decent device but you just don’t know what apps are going to work and when others will stop working, even simple apps like you tube and Netflix don’t work.

Will it be locked to o2? I'm thinking this would make an ideal screen for a DJI Mini drone

Although the good news is that Apple does at least support iPhones for a long time beyond the latest iOS: Software support lasts around a decade, while hardware support can be available on five to seven year old handsets. To illustrate as of 2023 Apple supports the last two versions of its operating systems for bug and security updates: iOS 16 and iOS 15. All phones that could run iOS 14 and iOS 13 are able to run iOS 15, so that means all phones from iPhone 6s forwards are supported.

But actually, Apple does support iOS 12 as well, which brings software support to the iPhones 6 and 5s. In January 2023 Apple updated iOS 12 with a security update to address serious security flaws and it is expected these phones will not be supported for much longer. So in summary while not receiving the latest iOS for older phones around 6 yrs, key software updates like for security are maintained. (edited)

please can you put in any future o2 payg deals that it's is pretty much impossible to get a return done and to order at their own risk.

Contact us option takes you around in an endless loop. Chat does not open anything and I am an o2 customer.

I managed to get through to o2 on 4445 but the advisor there then transferred me to a team who will help. The team who received me said they were the pay monthly tram and just threw me back into the main queue. Problem is call centre closed at 8pm, though I am still in the queue apparently. Great of you like to be bounced back and forth. I think I'll have to try again tomorrow.

I have logged a call back from the complaints page, but earliest they can call is 20th June at the moment so it will be back (edited)

Similar situation to me last time. Phone was in a state, rang customer services, passed around as for some reason the call centre have no clue about payg returns. Finally was sent a returns bag through the post, they wouldn’t let me print a return label, then took weeks for the refund which I had to chase.

shouldn't the price be £79 as you have to buy a pay as go card with £10 credit
    MrSwitch's avatar
    MrSwitch Author
Na, you choose the £10 sim, but you only top up when the sim arrives at your doorstep, but obviously just don't do that if not needed

Another 2 hours wasted, no joy. Total 6 hours. I'm going to try my CC company

Edit: My CC company feel this is a definite chargeback case, so I completed an online form to do so.

O2 are now on my list (edited)

I've gone to PayPal for charge back. I can't stand the thought of another few hours on the phone getting nowhere.
Fingers crossed PayPal is as understanding as your credit card company!

What happened at the end of updates ? Phone still works or do they not let you access App Store
    scoutfinch47's avatar
    scoutfinch47
Like with Macs, you can always access App Store it’s just latest features are not available and as time goes on developers create apps which may become obsolete on much older phones. My friend is using a 2011 iPad and some apps work and others now are losing features or access so can take much longer than when the latest iOS update ceases to integrate with that respective device.

Which ios does it come with?
    KodaBear's avatar
    KodaBear
What iOS it comes with depends on how long it’s been sitting around for. But it’s upgradable to iOS 15 - This isn’t the latest however there’s still the occasional security patch being released for it.

Good luck with trying to return it.
Spent probably 4 hours trying to sort my return out. No one at the call centre knows what to do with payg phone. I was told there was a return label in the package, there wasn't. Was told to go to a store, store said they couldn't do anything I needed to phone up.
Transferred from department to department. Then cut off.
O2 are one of the worst companies to deal with.

2hrs 7mins, apparently returns team are closed, but has taken my details for them to pick up withing 24hrs and a manager will call back within an hour, not holding my breath on either as he was prepared to put me through to the relevant repairs and return team at the start of the call.

Unsurprisingly no call from the manager

I've been on the phone probably about 6 hours now, same story as you. Passed from one department to another.
Told I was through to returns bot then it was only for pay monthly customers.
Still no further along, so I've emailed complaints department.

I thought the 3 customer services was bad but they are top notch compared to o2.
  20. Sagor's avatar
    Sagor
They know what they are doing. They pretend to fill out forms and then say they will pass you on, only for the next person to ask for the info all over again. I think it's a ploy, just to show o2 seniors that they are handling all these calls, doesn't matter if they are resolved. They get an aggressive tone if you question any of their processes.

3 used to be bad, but i have had a recent experience of their customer support, by comparison they would be considered excellent. (edited)

They've just announced the 8 isn't getting ios updates (I use one of those for work, it's still a great phone - seems a real shame to bin it), so I'm not sure this is the bargain it seems.. What will you use it for?
    yadiyada's avatar
    yadiyada
No need to bin it. Share it!

(I run a project in SE London supporting those facing hardship. Literally any phone running WhatsApp and capable of taking emails/accessing government services is a god send for so many in our communities. Also opens up all sorts of work opportunities...and just generally a good thing for connecting people, and helping people to avoid feeling isolated).

Trade in value £70 on the Google Store saving you £1 on a new Google Pixel!

Jokes aside this is a good device for £69 for many user groups that don't need the latest and greatest.

The farce to return has started 52 minutes in and I'm being transferred to the 3rd department, they keep conveniently passing to the wrong team, and always puts through to a queue even though they say I won't have to wait.

From the last guy I asked for a direct number for returns he gave me 0344 809 0202 which I recognised as a pay monthly number (202), which I queried but looks like nobody wants to deal with it.

Has anyone managed to order one? The payment doesn't go through. I get the message "Sorry, your card payment did not go through. Please select a billing address to retry payment." There isn't anywhere to select a billing address? I've tried different cards and using different devices but no luck.

Edit: I used PayPal checkout instead and it went through. (edited)

You can check battery health from within the settings, and you'll only really know if issues by using, should be OK though I think
