Does anyone know if you took a 5kg bottle can you swap it for a 10kg as a refill

If Costco are playing by the suppliers rules (Flogas) they will allow an exchange between the 5 and 10kg bottles as long as both are the gaslight cylinders, link here flogas.co.uk/fre…der also worth noting Costco also do the 5kg refills. (edited)

I did this last weekend as I bought a BBQ last minute in a Sunday and my options were quite limited before the shops closed. Turned out it was a good deal anyway.
I had to buy the 10kg bottle then the gas.

If anyone is thinking of doing this and doesn't have a bottle to exchange take a look at some local ads, as some people sell their empties much cheaper than getting a "new" bottle from Costco.
I got a 10kg and 5kg for 30 quid, to exchange, but it turns out there is a decent enough amount of gas in there before I do that.

I say "new" bottles, because you don't actually get one from Costco. It's because they are all previously exchanged bottles that have been refilled, which is not a problem. They all get checked when refilled with any defective ones taken out of circulation.

Thanks for this response, Thurrock is my nearest, it’s £99 at Homebase and £54 for a refill!

I know this specifically says reading, but do all costcos do these refills?

I believe so. AFAIK all Costco’s are consistent with services offered in the UK. They’re really pushing BBQ season this year so I’d be surprised if all of them don’t. Also worth noting it’s £50 for a new 10Kg bottle. Bargain when compared to B&Q at £86!

You CAN swap a 5kg for a 10kg and visa versa providing it's within the same category of bottle. Check the flogas website it's rules are on there.

Here's a photo from the Haydock store for the prices so it looks like it's nationwide.

Anyone got this price at any Costco other than reading? Haydock is about £80 for the 10kg

This may be a stupid question, but does it have to be a Flogas bottle? I have a Calor that needs refilling...

CostCo don't actually refill gas bottles. They swap empty ones for full ones, then flogas take the empty ones away to refill.

I would like to know too.
I have a 5kg blue calor gas one.
Just bought the the Nexgrill 2 burner from Costco and need a bottle. There were loads last week before the sun hit at my local Costco.

This was strange. I went to Costco and after unsuccessfully searching for the gas they said they'd never heard of that brand before and that I must be imagining it.

My local Costco, Thurrock, has had them in since at least the 28th of Feb. Might have been before, but thats when I spotted them. They have a purpose built area in the car park for them, in a locked cage. So if you see that in your local, you know they are talking rubbish. To purchase you need to pickup a card in the store, take it to the till for them to scan the barcode, then go round to the tyre shop to pick it up.

Or to make sure. just put your Costco address in here: flogas.co.uk/sto…sts
