Buy the 3 year guarantee, when it breaks (it will), they'll swap it for a brand new boxed printer that comes with another 9 months free instant ink.

The £8.10, is that a one off payment?

Before people buy hp printers i suggest you google what it actually means on their INK.
You have to buy HP ink not compatibles or you will brick the printer due to their BIOS chip.

These are great if you love trying to sort out issues with WiFi disconnecting and not being able to connect it again...

Is this a good buy while looking for good Brother deals?

NO.. read my post below about how they DRM the printers.

I got this printer, and currently paying £4.49 a month, so makes it a no brainer to buy this printer again as its cheaper then buying new ink or subscribing to instant ink. Such a shame as it just gonna be a bit of a waste to throw a perfectly fine printer away!

Howmany pages you print per month please..? How they calculate how many you print..?

Yeah - I would say avoid - I ended up buying one last time the deal was posted and of course I instantly (pun intended) regretted it! They failed to deliver the ink on time which meant I couldn't print, the apologised and added an extra month to my sub, but I pointed out that was not the point. I found I don;t print as much as I thought I would and turn the printer off for extended periods - it is an noghtmare to convince it to print wirelessly so I just plug in the USB cable to print now!

I got this on the deal in January, and have had no problems with it so far. It was easy enough to set up and wireless connectivity has worked well.

This sums up my hassle with HP printers.

Free to a good home / bad home / any home as long as it's out of mine.
Useless lump of plastic that calls itself a HP ENVY 6200 wireless printer / scanner.
In excellent condition looks wise but extremely temperamental , moody and only works when it feels like it.
On good days it works fine.
Bad days it denies it's very existence.
Funny mood days it will print a couple of pages then decide it's had enough and claim it suddenly can't connect any longer.
It knows when something is urgent and will be on it's worst stubborn behaviour.
Wireless connection was always a pain but i discovered it worked a lot better via wifi direct linking directly to laptop / phone. It has caught onto this now and has decided to be just as awkward in this mode.
It might work linked directly with a cable but after wasting even more hours over the last 2 days simply trying to print 2 pages I have had enough and cannot deal with it a second longer.
HP support turns awkwardness into an art-form, the manual tells you to look online, online help tells you to press a sequence of buttons that will print out instructions, my printers having none of that helping / printing nonsense.
The printer has front loading to help where no access is available to the back of the printer, clever you might think until they then decide to put the WiFi button in a recess on the ......back of the printer !
t's got plenty of ink left as it has rarely printed anything apart from printer status reports that it prints like there's no tomorrow.
Free to anyone with a lot of patience or a leaning towards masochism.
The only condition is i don't want to talk about it, ever.

To be fair we replaced out 4*** with an Envy 6032e and it's been great, those awful WiFi issues have vanished.

Still going to Epson when it dies though, liking the look of those EcoTank printers.

I've had the 4120e (which I think is basically the same printer as this one) for about 2 years, has been great for me. I just do the 99p/month subscription and that does me fine, since I mainly just use it for postage label printing. The scanning functionality has been useful at times too.

I have an hp deskjet and I print a few things maybe twice a week. Every single time I go to print there is some kind of faff on and it takes 5-10 minutes to get it going. What the problem is I generally never know, I just turn everything on and off a few times and keep reprinting. The hp instant ink is also an absolute scam and I can't work out how it's even allowed in this age of less waste and consumer protection laws. I've got 2 or 3 colour and 2 black cartridges surplus I can't use as I'm not paying for the subscription any more

How many pages can you print per month for the initial 9 months?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
The limit used to be the 700 page per Month subscription for the free Months, not sure if it's changed in the last couple of years.
  13. singhsta's avatar
Can you buy this printer and use the free instant ink months on a different HP instant ink printer
    dré.'s avatar
    no
  14. tubbyasstoo's avatar
so with this deal, you get a printer/scanner and 9 months of free ink, allowing 700 pages per month ?

so that is 6,300 colour pages for £40, and you get to keep the printer/scanner for future use ? (edited)
    dré.'s avatar
yes, and if you buy the £8.10 3 year extended warranty, when it breaks, you get a new printer with another 9 months (6300 colour pages) and so on......

Who has got into HP ink trap? Please raise your hand

Actually, I have the free tier of Instant Ink still running with an older HP printer of mine and it's great! Been running for years and I get 15 pages a month free, and 10 of them rolled over if unused into the next month. I don;t think people realise here that you can move between tiers as you wish to, you don't have to stay on the most expensive one when your free 9 months or so, runs out. You can just switch to the cheapest tier.

Epson ecotank is a different and, imo, better model.
HP deals just mean working printers are junked.

HP and the words GOING GREEN.. don't mean a thing more pullution.. HP should be charged in every country unless those printers are recycled GREENLY.. but then again, who would want one.
  17. Collyer93's avatar
Looking to order this now, will there be ink in the printer on purchase?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
Yep, might be a short filled pack but it'll get you going.

I would never buy a traditional inkjet printer like this with expensive ink cost. Epson EcoTank or Canon Megatank is the way to do.
