Amazon eu, returns will be hassle if there are issues

It wasn't in my experience. I was emailed a prepaid DHL label and just had to drop it off at the nearest collection point. If you're out in the sticks it could be a hassle though.

Never thought I'd say this but the Seagates are better designed with the front usb ports and they lie flat which takes up less space. The book style that WD are still pushing is so impractical.

£13.50 per TB is the best price in a long while.
Promises of an Amazon Prime day just around the corner aside, I think I'm going to go for this.

Although the early July delivery date might hint at something...

    Thanks OP! (edited)

Has anyone ever tried to claim VAT back on this? Does the invoice even mention the word VAT on them? Or is VAT replaced by "import fees"? Want to buy one of them though the company but hesitant because of this.

Set up a company account on Amazon. It’s free and have all the vat receipt’s together

Atrocious price- the HDD companies have as little interest in selling their products to ordinary punters as Ngreedia. And all the while flash gets cheaper and better in every metric.

I'm reminded of the tech losers in the physical removable disk biz - oh, they had it so good for a period, then as dead as the dinosaurs. And the music format companies that sat on their hands selling overpriced under-specced junk while MP3, initially at a literal snail's, crept up and then ate the entire biz.

HDD companies now have the tech for CHEAP 50TB drives, but want to keep scoring of the prehistoric tech in these sub 20TB devices.

We need to all stop buying them and the fall in demand will force a reduction in price. Just need to work out where to put all those TB of data in the meantime.
I think prices would have come down quicker but during the pandemic a lot of production was stopped. Consumer demand is already falling due to the economy so prices will fall but then buying a new hard drive may not be a priority at that point.

After that huge price mistake on these from Amazon last year, it's hard to put so much money down on hard drives these days. You'd think they would be far, far cheaper by now. 4TB WD Books cost more now than they did 5 years ago.

Had one of these and it died within a year. Refunded no problem but annoying to have to redownload so many Linux Isos

Paid this for a 14TB a month ago, great price! Would usually have waited but had to replace a failing NAS drive!

You've got to do what you've got to do.

I've just ordered one of these and I'm certain they'll drop again in the next month or so.

Based on the shady practices WD are doing with NAS drives I'll stick with Seagate.

Saw a post saying it was £225 last prime day and am wondering now if I should pull the trigger on this deal or wait.

Should buy 2 and use the second as a backup for when the main one dies, 18TB of videos and photos is a lot to loose.
