I’ve got one of these brushed versions. It’s very good despite years of abuse

Good find. Brushed motors are fine...DIY Joes sometime do not grasp this. We run them alongside brushless - work brill. They just will not die but do the job without fault. THANKS op. PS...Our German made Robert Bosch washer dryer, 20 years old, had to have new brushes in for the first time in its life and is back to as good as new............so what's the problem....

Powerful & Highly efficient Dewalt PM47 fan-cooled motor with replaceable brushes

    This is why

I'd never buy dewalt these days with brushed motor (edited)

Paid £114 for mine in 2021. Brushed is fine for my DIY not used daily/weekly. Heat.

For DIY its perfect though it appears builders also recommend this brushed version as well.

We paid £85 + £17 VAT = £102 in June 2022. If you have an immediate use, buy one. If you can wait...........price might go lower. Be advised, it is a sizable, weighty unit in the hand but delivers power to easily run 150mm long blades - used correctly. Cuts straight and true. Good Luck.

The Dewalt DCS334 (brushless) on Amazon is at a great price too. I remember those were at a £140-£150 price point. It has dropped down to £134.76. Probably a better choice for those still trying to stay within a certain budget.

Without quoting manufacturer bilge, why would it be a better choice in everyday hands on use? I have found (by using them) nothing to shout home about the difference. They both work the day through. Reading about it, yes, but that doesn't earn its £38 extra purchase to some people. If they stop working you bin them as it isn't worth claiming on any warranty in practical terms. Thought nearly everyone did that.

We use Bosch, Makita(my favourite) and Dewalt.......once they stop earning their keep they have gone, finished, Finito..........Dumped, no matter which make. All this nonsense about who has the biggest. I never see the serious£1000 tools on here, only the cheap end ones. Hey, Ho. They have their place but brushless over brushed is relative nonsense at this price point as shopkeepers will eventualy inherit the world selling you all something you never needed in the first place......Good deal though, cosworth. Thankyou.

I have this jigsaw and I love it. Best part is being able to cut a bevel with it and the variable trigger works really well - reminds me of a sewing machine the way you can dial down the speed. Actually use the bevel quite a bit rather than going to the table saw. Saves a lot of time for when it doesn't need to be so accurate. Quick blade release is a joy if you have been using a screw-in blade for the past 20 years

Not bothered by brushless/brushed motor discussion - irrelevant at this price point. Hot
