Hey this is literally the same laptop my work provided us with, I've been using it for the last three years and it is excellent.

Only slight concern is that ms365 is getting more and more bloated, it sometimes struggles with loads of apps open due to only having 8gb RAM. But for sub 200 it's a fantastic machine. Made me need a touchscreen as a requirement for any personal laptop because it's hard to go back!

I bought a 16GB i7 model recently for £170 which was a steal, only downside it being in a German layout but I got used to it. Screen looks amazing and the pen support is very useful. Touchscreens on a laptop are defo underrated, can't go back..

How do you scratch a laptop screen ? People must be some category of duckwit to do that.
They have probably been poking it with a biro if it is touch screen.

On this model, it's almost always the lid being pressed into the palmrest and keyboard causing rubs/scuffs on the display surface as opposed to actual scratching. I think the display surface is actually a plastic anti-glare coating (like a plastic screen protector) on top of the glass that you may or may not be able to remove.

Tempting, specially with the QHD display, Do they come with a stylus pen?

I checked with the seller previously and they said it does come with the stylus.

Is this similar to the T480? better? worse?

I've got the T480s and would choose the T480 tbh 😄

My (global) school purchased thousands of these and I'd hate to be someone receiving a laptop that's been used and abused all day. They are bulletproof machines however...I wonder if these are some of the reconditioned thousands recently returned out of warranty...

These are almost definitely off-lease but it depends who had them, businesses where they might have sat on a desk or a school like yours where they were moved each day and probably never really cared for.

You may be lucky (it's a great price either way), but don't be surprised if the battery requires replacement - quote "Battery: Minimum 3 hours STANDBY". Whether that's sleep or hibernate, it's not good.

Even though this seller lists it as ‘good - refurbished’ grade on eBay and eBay says:

    Good - Refurbished
This item has been inspected, tested and cleaned by a qualified seller.
    • Appearance: Looks good with moderate signs of wear.
    • Performance: Fully functional. Minimum 80% battery life.
    • Guarantee: One-year guarantee provided by seller.

They don’t expect you to expect 80%+ battery health and get around it by saying ‘2-3hrs standby’ - basically it’s a catch all statement to avoid checking the battery properly. If you challenge them, they’ll just block you. The EliteBook 745 G5 in the last deal were around 60-65% health but cheap enough to ignore. (edited)

    Thanks OP.

Just ordered one for my partner as I can’t stand her calling her Chromebook a “Laptop” any more

My work laptop for past 5 years, but with 16GB RAM. 8GB is a bit light but if you're not thrashing it it will work fine.

    Bulletproof, indestructible, reliable.

Check the lid for micro-cracks on the edging and that it hasn't been battered to within an inch of its life.

Is this carbon fibre? I had the X1 Carbon as a work laptop before and it was great.

Absolutely bulletproof- worked deskside IT for a company that had around 25000 across Gen 2 and 3 models. The only issues we ever saw across the business were accidental damage (which was very hard to actually write the laptop off), or the SSD not detected. The latter was more from them being carried around an office by their left corner and rarely seen by a home user I imagine, but it’s just a case of unscrewing the drive and popping it back in

I have just received mine and have exactly the same issue. Anyone know how to get around this? Doesn't seem to let you out a personal email account in!

No issues for me (I had the option to select personal setup).

Battery life at 90% is 5hrs.

Edit: it's just shot up to over 6 (I was downloading a fair bit). Let's see how she goes... (edited)

I restarted the laptop and it then gave me the option to set up for personal use.

    Annnnnd....

It's faulty. The FN Lock key is stuck on (can't toggle it off etc).

Any idea on a fix before I send it back?

I just collected mine and I've been charging it for about half an hour and the laptop is hot but the charger is boiling! Is this normal?
