I have been travelling to Albania since 1995 and visited most of the country. I’d avoid going too far north, though Kruje is a must see. Tirana is expensive for tourists. Durrës is an amazing city, better than Tirana I think. Avoid a mountain coach trip if you’re not able to shut your eyes for the entire journey.
Well worth a visit, especially if you get too see the country rather than just the tourist traps.
The people are extremely hospitable. I have ventured up some of the mountains to get into remote villages. I was always amazed by people who invited me into their homes. The raki in the villages is potent!!!

When I first went in 1995, the plane couldn’t land until soldiers moved the shepherds and sheep and goats off the potholed runway. Tirana airport is now one of the best I’ve seen in any small country. (edited)

Would you recommend Albania in late Oct / early Nov? Most guides mention about the Riviera only. I had Wizz tickets for Kotor, but they cancelled my flight... now I wonder if I should do a week in Albania or just Sat-Wed as it might be getting a bit rainy / cold?

Paranoia. Albanians are friendly and they have a great country. Beautiful beaches and great weather. I will probably buy a city break as a Romanian I'm safe in there as I don't have misconceptions about people and countries without knowing anything related to them.

Very poor country. Is it a Muslin or non-Muslim country ? Are you allowed to consume alcohol?

There are thousands of free rooms dotted around the country, especially near the seaside.

Never been put have tickets for December as a connection to Dubai. I have never been an dont have a negative misconception. After being told Polish this, Polish that. I went through on a multi city tour and was blown away, in a good way.
