As for the bike as expected it is very cheap components which all seem to work just fine.
Bad points are it's a very ugly colour and just looks like a grey primer, i sort of expected it to be pearlesent grey, but it's horrible, however as an adult i won't be showing it off to my mates at school as it's just a workhorse for me, but kids may be disappointed as it looks very drab.
The dampening controls on top of the forks catch on the cables and due to the cheap switches are easily knocked.
The front wheel / forks just feel a bit odd with strange balancing and don't hold centre very well.
Brakes are bad out of the box, but probably need some time to bed in.
Despite all that i bought this as a cheap bike to go out in the bad weather so i can look after my more expensive bikes for summer days.
The gears are fairly snappy with a bit of basic setup and the limit screws weren't to far off.
Also i expected 9 gears and didn't realise it's 18 speeds with the 2 front cogs, so that was a bonus.
Lets face it with most of these online orders you don't know the build quality or components until it arrives and for me is what i expected and wouldn't pay more than £250 for this.
So £180 delivered is fine - A drab bike for drab, rainy days.
Edit: Just been for a 16 mile ride up and down a few steep hills on the road only to bed things in and test my setup with no issues at all, in fact the gears are sweet as a nut and the shifters are very nice especially the downshift.
Brakes are fine and do the job and will probably get better with time.
The suspension is probably the weakest thing for me as it just all feels a bit too cheap but does the job and it's a budget bike at the end of the day.
Had a great ride and very happy with how everything performed. (edited)
Happy riding everyone who ordered!
This is a great setup guide on youtube, very clear and concise :-
Just got a large, use code JDO-DOFE-ADU for a stonking £159.20
Hydraulic brakes and 29" wheels for under £200... Can't be.
I was looking for something a little better but I think I'm gonna go for this.
Can't see anything about how heavy it is?
Anyone?
I need a cheap bike to do a few miles a day commute. I can go on or off road to my destination. I have a Marin Se old school that I bought off the bay.
Would this be at least equal? I love my Marin but I want to get it serviced and upgraded.
I need something cheap to ride and as back up. I don't mind weight, gears etc. I am pretty fit and enjoy doing hills on crap bikes..
Even though I don't really need a new bike
This is a ridiculously good deal.
Was previously on HotUKDeals, Calibre Point - Mountain Bike (S/M) £ 319.48, check out the comments.
At this price it's a no brainer.
Thank you OP! 🔥
Useless clowns. (edited)
I can only guess that the parts are very poor quality, but would love to hear feedback from any one who has bought Calibre bikes before as i don't know.
I've bought one as my scratty bad weather bike is a bit small for me and the bearings are clicking somewhere, so this will hopefully be a replacement for that as the cost to repair usually ain't worth it and i've had it for over 20 years now - It's time to lay it to rest
Someone recommends thread lock on the pedals and crank.
That's all that's left.
So
The cassette and detailer didn't line up hence no gear change
Have done just over 800 miles on it.
Hasn't missed a beat.
Took it to Cannock chase once and rode it a few times to work.
Just sat there not being used so I ended up selling it.
Have a motor on my second bike so felt like too much work riding this
The front gears are clunky but the rear was ok after setting up properly.
Switched them out for mechanical brakes and I'm back on the road again. Having a battle with Ultimate Outdoors customer services (even though other customer reviews call out the same issue), they wanted me to do a 300 mile trip to our 'local store' before issuing any form of compensation.
