    I paid £849 for mine.

I will say, in my experience, it isnt worth it.
    1) It is a very big and chunky watch to wear around. Apart from the fact you can take calls on it (which you will never do in real life) it does nothing the smaller Apple Watches dont do.
    2) Cheaper watcheds than this will also do your blood sugar lever. So, if like me you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, a £30 watch will do that and this cant.
    3) The indluded straps arent Silicon like with other Apple Watches and not as confortable. I found myself shelling out for a new strap.

I think you misunderstood the use case for a watch like this.

It is meant for people need a tougher watch  than the standard watch allows or they need the extra battery life it allows....so if you run ultramarathons, or ride very long bike rides 100+ miles....this is not aimed at people who just like a big watch (although they can buy it as well)...Also, some people buy it for the battery life it gives...but again for many charging nightly, is more than enough....

Not knocking the watch at all..and I'm sure I will get a gen 2 if they shrink the bezels....as I am someone who does some long runs, and long rides so would benefit from the extra battery life...that and I also like a  big watch and have worn large watches for most of my adult life

Anyone know why the grey strap version is more expensive than the Alpine Green?

Popularity most likely. The less desirable options often get discounted to shift them from stock

Cheaper as Grade B (which I always find is more than acceptable) from CEX with 2yr warranty.

Received today - ‘as new’ is questionable and Apple warranty runs out in less than three months. Will likely return and keep looking.

Do you wrap the watch 'there' and put a timer on?

I always find it best to buy a gen behind as you find them on eBay refurb stores for mega cheap, they've pretty much got all the features and still have a good battery.... Plus they give a years warranty. Then you just sell the next year where you lose almost no money and upgrade to the next model. Where if you buy the latest model you always lose a few hundred quid in a year.

Does this work? I’ve always thought it was a bit like buying a new car

I got mine and it was completely new , the box on the outside was ripped. The actual box was never opened. Great deal.

I have a big wrist but still found this too big to wear, went for the stainless steel series 8 instead.

Costco sold this previously at £699 brand new. I can only see this price to fall further.

True, although Apple will still honour the remaining warranty, which is likely to be 11-12 months.
