This looks like a good deal . Now tell me, prices seem to started coming down for laptops especially gaming ones since I bought my MSI GF63 in October 2020, I’ve just had a look at the prices and they seem to be quite cheap now. Or is it just me?

For anyone interested, the Ryzen 7530U IdeaPad Slim 5 is still available on offer with the OLED and actually a little cheaper. It might be the next best choice, it should also run cooler and last longer on battery.

Tempted to return the 6600hs open box/Amazon warehouse laptop I got the other day and go for the 7730U here. Cant decide on OLED over resolution with the screens though

Go to Build My PC and remove the OS and change from i5 to i7 for the price above.

purchased the i5 version of it through one of the recent deals here, but I'm not sure if i d buy it again. The device feels excessively bulky and heavy, which is surprising considering its size. Personally, I prefer a lighter, plastic laptop. It weighs approximately 2kg, while my previous HP with the 5800u processor was only 945g. Carrying this new laptop feels like a significant burden.

Furthermore, when I open multiple tabs on Edge or any other browser, the screen flickers, goes black, and then returns. It seems that the GPU may struggle to handle the workload. the specifications are decent overall, I wouldn't recommend purchasing it.

It's about 1.6kg and it does have an H-series chip. Your HP weighing under 1kg was clearly one of the specialist magnesium-alloy Aero machines and not the norm, why would you get rid of that!

The screen flicker is likely a driver or possibly hardware issue - I would get that checked out under warranty if you have done all the driver updates.

    Beast of a CPU!

Yes, shame it's not Iris Xe graphics but it does have 64 EUs vs 32 on the i5. This thing will rip through workloads, but last time people were complaining about it running too hot and throttling. Really is a minefield...

Nice saving for the OLED model, this brings it into ‘good value’ territory, even with the discount before the OLED one was around £630.

Yeah it'll probably get lost in the prime day chaos though

May as well pay the extra £20 for a 100w charger and backlit keyboard too.

It's a shame you can't have an LCD with the i7 option. I was tempted to order it and cancel the Thinkbook I'd ordered on another deal.
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
Why do you want that? No risk of burn-in? To be fair, the 2.2K LCD is very good on this model. The ThinkBook should have better build overall but they are close. A lot of people complained about the hinges on IdeaPads snapping over time.

How do we install genuine windows?
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
Use a USB installer and get a key from somewhere, it is not seamless as you need to fiddle with wireless drivers as the hardware is too new. If it's a pain, buy it preinstalled.

Would this run Football Manager quite well? Concerned about it overheating. Hate loud fans on laptops!

It will run it without a hitch. Though, who knows about the fan noise.

Any idea if its full aluminium or the base is abs plastic??
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
Aluminium lid and base is plastic but decent quality. You need the Pro for all metal.

Is the integrated graphics just UHD 730/770 or similar?

Do not buy from Lenovo, I bought a laptop from them through a deal on here. They sent me the wrong laptop and I still have it, it's been three weeks. Customer service is shocking, still no refund. Avoid like the plague. Read Trustpilot reviews.
