Anyone know how this compares to the Amazon fire max 11 that's in the prime sale reduced from £289 to £139?

Having owned a number of Amazon Fire Tablets in the past and now pwning an ipad, I wouldn't go near the Fire tablets again. The experience with the ipad is significantly better and is supported by ios updates for a hell of a lot longer than Amazon supports the Fire tablets. I got fed up of the increasingly sluggish performance of the Fire tablets and lack of firmware updates and poor app library, making the tablet effetcively obsolete within a short period of time. Yes, they're cheap, but you get what you pay for imo.

thanks OP. Just bought using Amazon Payments (at £59.80/mth for 5 mths) as we needed to upgrade our iPad Air 2 for my daughter who needed a more up to date tablet for secondary school in September

I have no idea which are good when it comes to ipads. How does this one compare to some of the newer models?

This is great for everyday use and decent storage too. Others, which cost more, are for heavy users and like designers etc.... but this is ideal for normal use with a decent spec.

Can someone help a confused middle aged dad trying to break into the apple ecosystem? I have always had android devices but my son's friends use facetime to chat with each other and so if it's possible then I want to get him an iPad to use at home for Roblox, Minecraft and facetime, an Apple watch with an e-sim to communicate with me outside the home and use a cheap android phone when he's at his mum's in case it gets lost, broken or sold.

Is this possible, can this device achieve one of those objectives? (64gb isn't enough right?) I don't want to spend more money than I have to, but also my budget is open ended, I just don't have a clue 🤦🏻‍♂️ (edited)

Apple Watches only work with iPhones they don’t work with Android phones unfortunately.

I bought this for my daughter last year from Currys for £279 with a trade in offer on a super old iPad, the battery life is waaaaay better than my iPad Air 2020 edition. Lasts a full week of watching YouTube Kids and playing games. Definitely a good deal!

£271.93 at onbuy. To me it doesn’t matter where you buy as the support is from Apple directly. Still being ripped off in uk. £224 in USA.

True enough, although US prices often exclude local tax, which is applied at checkout.

Still too much money to spend on a device with only 64gb memory
