I've never understood the advantage of these "licensed drives", is it purely taking advantage of people who are less technical savvy?

Really? So this 'certified' bit and matching 'firmware' is all a load of rubbish?

Just a WARNING… I had this Seagate external drive plugged into my PS4 Pro. The provided Seagate wire is only about 15cm so it’s pretty near the PlayStation. Anyway after a year using it, the drive drops in & out of the PlayStation finding it. I tried a official new wire but that didn’t change anything. I then did a HDD check via PC and it has “Airflow temperature failed” when testing it.
Reading about it, it’s like a tripwire metric, like water indicators in smart phones. It shows the device has been through heat conditions that would void warranty.

I’m surprised my PS4 Pro could heat the drive, 15cm away, to the point of breaking it or is it just Seagate making shoddy products?
