I have just had my new price as my contract expires, it's gone up by £30 all I have is the tvo box and evening and weekend call which we never use £75 what planet are the on, when I called to cancel, I told the I just want broadband they quoted cheapest as £40. Having worked for cable & wireless, ntl, nynex for 21 years gradually building the digital network up since 1991, to see this company decline so fast is concerning. I have Vodafone broadband with a free land-line being installed on the 29th.Virgin emailed me today offering broadband for £16.Told them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine. (edited)

Good on you. Out of interest, what deal did you get with Vodafone?

Just tried the contract renewal haggle, going from 350 paying £24, best they said they could offer was £38 on the same package (with the RPI increases to be added). I said it's a minimum 50% increase but they were not having any of it really so just asked to be disconnected after 30 days as per their notice request. Lets see if retentions call over the next few days.

edit - just gone into my account and if I go to change my package I can stay on £24 but a new 18month contract. Interesting. (edited)

Just had a look for that but think it's to early as mine isn't up till Nov so maybe thats why I can't see what deal might be on the table. They are quoting £62 once my £36 deal for M500 ends. Imagine there will still be a bit of a reduction with some haggle but don't see me getting it below £45.
Might switch to BT as they have 500 for £32.99 at the moment and they will buy you out of the remainder of your Virgin contract.

Just had phone call from virgin customer service, they offered me £17 a month for 125mbp or upragade to 250mbp for as little as £20 whoop whoop

Just got a call from.them now. Don't seem to send the same offer to other existing customers. I was paying £24pm for the 125bmp. They offered 250mbp for £30. I haven't accepted cos I wanted to check what others are getting.

Before you join Virgin for anything, I suggest you check out the reviews on Trust Pilot.

As far as Broadband providers are concerned, I dare say none of them will have very good reviews. Thats primarily because more people leave reviews when they are annoyed, than when they are okay with the service provided.

Looks like VM's pricing are coming back down to what they should be. Shame as I moved over to Three Home Broadband after their ridiclous increase back in May. Had no issues with Three so don't think I'm in a hurry to go back to VM.
    geoff3's avatar
Good to hear you’re happy with Three as I’m considering them as an option. How’s the speed and connection?

You need to take into account the April price increase as Virgin has removed the right to cancel during mid-contract price increases. Just cancelled my Virgin broadband as the prices are now ridiculous.
    matman050988's avatar
Since when? Can’t see any info online about them stopping it. Did it myself few months ago.
  8. luminox's avatar
The last time I renewed my contract they increased the price after 3 months by £10
  9. wonger73's avatar
I only have 125 broadband it wax £17.99 going up to £54 next month so I cancelled and then got a call back and got it for £17 for 18 months,I know other people have better deals but it was all that I wanted.I suppose it will go up in April though and possibly on other occasions so I will have to wait and see what happens.

Great, I'm in a similar position as yours and would likely to take such an offer if made one.

    Late to this discussion.
Last Feb, called them for mother in law, argued for aaaages, and somehow got 250m broadband, no calls, BT Sport HD, all Sky Sport in SD, and Entrrtainment bundle... for £34 a month.

Logged into her account today, and said your offer is expiringin.Aug, but click here to continue for another 18 months at the same price!!

    WTF?!
No haggling, no arguing, just click here to keep your crazy deal.
Its £7 extra for sport in HD, and they confirmed via chat TNT Sport will still be in HD.

My contract just about up- best price as existing customer they’ll give me is £37( broadband only) so looking for better options !
    AAa5353's avatar
My advice is to send a letter (don't call to not waste your time) with resignation. They will call you back themselves with better offer. To me they even send a sms (because I was rejecting calls from unknown numbers) and gave me an email address to write to them.

Same position as most, virgin deal coming to an end and big increase proposed. Decided to try 5g home broadband with 3. Took it on the month to month package to try and have now had it for 3 weeks. Speeds vary between 200 and 600 meg down and usually gives about 100 meg up.
Have been pleased with it and have my v6 box and router unplugged waiting to send back to virgin.
Did receive a text from then saying they had been trying to get in touch to offer me a £16 broadband deal or £100 credit and have a number to contact them on.
To be honest, am happy enough with 3 and with Freeview so unless they phone and offer something stupid i will stick with 3.
    Good luck.

What were they offering for £16/month, did they say?
Also, how much are you paying with 3?

Anyone know what Hub you are likely to get with this? (3, 4 or 5?)
    daleson's avatar
    A very usless Hub 3
  18. Taksim_Red's avatar
This can be had for around £16pm from retentions.
  19. ADADA's avatar
I’ve been with them for 3 years now. Deals are only for new customers. Unless you tell them you want to leave and suddenly you are treated nice again. horrible internet though

been out of contract for ages waiting on Grain. Virgin sent me an email the other day "fill this in and we'll reduce the cost by 25%" which would then be only > £40 for M125

My Virgin Media contract is about to end. I called and they are only offering me M250 for £31. I have given my notice for cancellation. Let's see if they call with a better deal
    Sabeer_Fayyaz's avatar
Seems like a good deal to me as I have paid £25 for the M125 package.
  22. Sabeer_Fayyaz's avatar
My Virgin media contract is about to end in September and it will be renewed at £45 instead of the current £25 for the M125 package. Can someone suggest a better deal for the same speed and about the same price? Thanks!

Put in cancellation request through phone, I have 250Mbps with Volt, have been offered 26/month and I have declined it, hope they call back, I will go with 18/mon if offered or else I will try three home broadband.
    shalton's avatar
I accepted 250 + phone line and weekend calls for £23.
  25. r444juk's avatar
Cancelled My contract on Saturday which was M250 and weekend Calls. Which was £25.50 but went to £32 after price increase. Called Virgin and the best they offered was £40. So gave them notice for cancellation. They just called me now and have offered me M350 and weekend calls for £29 on an 18 months contract. But I guess this will go up in April. But I'm stuck with virgin as I can't get above 100mb with the other providers in my area. But can you cancel if they increase price in April? Forgot ask on the phone.
