I can't comment on the Lidl since I've yet to try it but have bought from Sainsburys and Tesco. I purchased about 18 mths ago. The Sainsburys one is much 'stickier' and the grain is smaller so it's good if you are a chopstick user and great for sushi roll and congee/rice porridge. Tesco's not so sticky and my preference for fried rice and regular meal. I think the grain is slightly bigger than Sainsburys. There're many rice varieties and year of produce too. Thai shop tends to be pricier and on the packaging will state if new harvest, etc. So adjust amount of water accordingly.
