Posting this back as a deal now that they've cleared it all up about the T&C's change that they tried on. What with Lycamobile making the switch to EE we are suddenly spoiled with MVNOs on EE but this is currently the cheapest for 6 Months.

The full 3GB is available for free EU Roaming unlike on Lycamobile.

No eSIM, no Wi-Fi Calling and no 4G Calling/VoLTE.

From Talkhome rep

”Hello everyone,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the auto-renewal failures you have been facing. I will try my best to share as much visibility as I can with you all below:

The issue
Earlier this week, some customers reported their plans did not renew automatically. Usually, our auto-renewals process successfully with a 95%+ success rate.

This incident was escalated to our technical support team, and we identified the reason this happened shortly thereafter.

What happened?
While our services worked fine, a renewal service from our payment gateway malfunctioned. This is - in no way - an attempt to take the blame off us but to bring you visibility. We accept full responsibility for this incident.

Is the issue resolved?
Our auto-renewal service is fully restored, and any pending renewals should go through successfully.

On behalf of Talk Home, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this has caused. We assure you that your new user offer is intact, and any plans you are subscribed to will successfully renew.

How we are ensuring this doesn't happen again
Based on this incident, we have also done the following:
1. Reattempt an auto-renewal payment if the system identifies an error after a specified time.
2. Live health check of our automated payments system so any service downtime can be identified in real-time and escalated on priority.

In addition, we are also working on creating a fallback scenario in the customer dashboard for the customer to retry payment manually should auto-renewal fail. The manual "retry payment" functionality is being tested internally and will be rolled out to our customers shortly.

Please know that the steps outlined above are being taken so this does not happen again, and we're very sorry that this happened in the first place.

Best regards,
Bretta”

I would add that when I put a Lycamobile SIM in my Pixel that is now on EE, it doesn't bring up 4G Calling or Wi-Fi Calling in the settings menu but on Talk Home Mobile it does show both. 4G Calling (VoLTE) is greyed out but turned on and you can select to turn Wi-Fi Calling on and off.

Update. Wi-Fi Calling does not work and going to assume 4G Calling/VoLTE doesn't either. (edited)
    b4dr1's avatar
To clarify WiFi calling and VoLTE don't work on Samsung phones and the customer service confirmed that they don't offer it yet.

Even Though these show enabled - I would double check if they work

Horrific operator, completely messed up the port of my number and left me without my number and a working SIM for ten days. Wouldn’t go near them.
    JamesNolan's avatar
The same has just happened to me but three weeks! It's just been sorted today so porting to O2 now!
  3. hoggs's avatar
When it says no 4G calling, does that mean it uses 3G?
And if that is the case, I guess it's dead after December 2023 with the removal of 3G service? Or have I got that wrong?
    TalkhomeCS's avatar
We offer 5G, 4G and 3G on our network. There is a roll out in the UK already in motion and yes, 3G is indeed being switched off by the end of the year, with some areas of the UK already having had it turned off.

MVNO vs Direct EE contract, is the signal / reception/ speed of data any different please?
    teacoffeebiscuits's avatar
Speed is limited to 100mbps on this one.

My old number should have been ported across from Three on Friday, but still no success
    81maeve_'s avatar
It took them 4 working days to port in my number and I had to chase them twice. I'm using my balance now and will go back to Lebara.

Is there a limit on how many sims a person or household can have? I have to administer everyone's here and they'll all want this deal!
    TalkhomeCS's avatar
Hi - it does look like there are some restrictions in place on the number of orders you can place. However having spoken to our CS team directly we can try work something out for you - please contact our team via email at cs-mobile@talkhome.co.uk with a rough idea of how many you need and we'll gladly try sort it out for you. Hope this helps!

Am with Lebara on the 49p for first 6 months deal.
When seeing this post I thought about moving to here.
After reading the posts about bad porting experiences ,i'll stay with Lebara!

Yep, you can't go wrong with Lebara. I've just come off 6 months with them myself. It's good to have competition and choice though as it may well push Lebara to go £0.01 again .

I ordered it last week and the sim arrived within a few days.

My number port date was selected as yesterday but it actually happened this morning. Porting process was fine and the additional 1gb is showing on my account.

Looks good for the next 6 months.

Just activated this 1p sim but why does it say I have 3000 mins and 3000 text on the app when checking balance when it says unlimited calls and text on the offer :/
    t3r4's avatar
If you go to their "acceptable use policy" it states that unlimited plans are actually limited to 200GB/3000min/3000texts.

Just a reminder that this deal expires this Friday and we'd love to welcome you on board! Most of the larger Telco's have recently pushed up their price on average by 16% and often tie you into long term contracts. So, if you are considering a change of network, with more flexibility, or simply want to take advantage of this fabulous offer while it's hot, then you still have some time to take it out. You have 30 days to activate it from the order date too! If you have any further questions then please do reach out on here and we'll try our best to answer them.

Hi, if after the 6 months 1p deal is over and you don't want to carry on when it goes to £5 can you just switch off auto renew or do you have to go through customer service to cancel?

    Thanks

What's procedure to port number to TH ?
    TalkhomeCS's avatar
    - here are the details to help you, it's all rather easy: talkhome.co.uk/tra…ber
To be up front, please note, that recently we have had a small number of users who have been severely affected in the timelines of the port in process due to a technical fault with our service provider (BT/EE). That problem is starting to be resolved and an automated fix is being worked on. However 99% of all port ins have been running smoothly and transferring within 24-48 hours. (edited)

Where do you "Auto Renew" Mines is not working too today after the first month!
  20. romprod's avatar
Ordered the SIM sometime last week but it's just just turned up.

The SIM is now in use and working. I get a 4G signal and a quick speedtest shows 80mbit ish download so all good on that front.

Unsure about the monthly auto-renew stuff though, I guess that I'll find out in a month.
    TalkhomeCS's avatar
    Hi there,

Thanks for ordering your Talk Home SIM.

Please note that over 95% of auto-renewals process successfully. For the remaining, this is due to any security checkpoints the payment gateway deems mandatory.

This is industry best practice followed by the 3DS 2.0 protocol - you can find more information here if you'd like: 3D Secure 2.0: What is it and how does it work?

How can I restore connectivity if my auto-renewal fails?
Customers can soon retry payment from the dashboard should the auto-renewal fail.

In the future, customers will also receive email communication if payments do not go through so you can manually authorize them.

As I mentioned, more than 95% of renewals are processed seamlessly. The remaining require further authentication/validation, and the merchant (Talk Home) cannot bypass this security check. This is where manual authentication is required, and soon your Talk Home dashboard will allow you to do this.

    I hope this information helps.

    Best regards,
    Bretta

A few questions for when you have time...

I was looking for information on what happens when I run out of data allowance.

    1. Does data get cut off once my allowance runs out or do you start charging per MB?

    2. Do you inform me that I've run out of data allowance and am now being charged?

    3. What price is the data (per MB I assume) for out of allowance usage?

    4. Do Talk Home Mobile allow setting up of a spending cap?

Talk Mobile allowed a cap to be set up so you could never be charged more than that. (premium calls and out of allowance data were blocked as soon as the spending cap was reached)

    Thanks.
    TalkhomeCS's avatar
Let me try answer your questions here:

    1. Does data get cut off once my allowance runs out or do you start charging per MB? Once the data from a plan expires you can choose to add a bolt on, buy another plan or use data from your account (if you have credit in your account balance)

    2. Do you inform me that I've run out of data allowance and am now being charged? If you have opted into emails you should get alerts, you can also check the My THM app for your usage and finally we're working on an SMS communication tool which will inform users in future. You can of course keep your account balance in credit and use this or keep it empty if you'd rather not.

    3. What price is the data (per MB I assume) for out of allowance usage? Please see our rates page here: talkhome.co.uk/rat…nal

    4. Do Talk Home Mobile allow setting up of a spending cap? We don't have a spending cap as such but we aim to soon bring alerts or thresholds reminders when your balance goes below a certain amount or to remind you to top up/buy again if needed. On PAYG plans or standard rates you kind of control your own spends if that makes sense.

    Hope this helps!

Don't bother, completely useless. After a month the bank is declining them taking payment as they are not providing all the information needed for the transaction. Not able to call, text or use data as the package doesn't renew.
Can't make heads or tails of their support, apparently they want me to provide details to bank to approve transaction, what a load of rubbish.

  32. Ejrev_'s avatar
So after 6 months you want to cancel the 1p plan can you just turn off auto renew or do you contact customer service. Its because I read on someone elses question that you have to contact CS and can't turn off auto renew but I have a screenshot from there own help section that you can turn auto renew off. See picture attached.

No option to turn off auto renewal in the app. Just email CS - they are pretty responsive.

well smug for deciding to pay via PayPal, considering glitches they had

Tried and failed to find porting (over) option, but I hope, that once SIM is here and activated- it'll work

as it comes to number porting (Out), all networks are set-up OFCOM compliant procedure-number 65075 (text- "PAC"), they'll have to provide you with PAC code within 48 hrs?
    KTF's avatar
The port in option is available when you log in to your account via the website. It wont work until you have activated the SIM though. (edited)
  34. carrieavonlady's avatar
So, does the contract start the moment you order the sim, or from when you activate it? I ordered a sim yesterday and got this from Paypal :
"Next payment due 7 September 2023 Next payment amount £0.01 GBP"
    BeeKeeper's avatar
I noticed this too as I haven't activated my SIM yet, I want to wait for a few weeks.

Just signed up as very cheap roaming and the 250 mins and texts with 1GB works out as cheap as Sky for £15. Let you know how it goes. Seems ok so far. They tried to pull the 12 months trick but that sim was a yearly sim.
    TalkhomeCS's avatar
We are delighted to see that you have joined us. Welcome on board. Yes, agree on the 12 mo plan, but it wasn't an attempt to be underhand and mistakes were made in how it was communicated and handled generally - but we've learned from that and tried to make amends. Rest assured, what you have signed up to here is as you see! Thanks again.

The Super Surfer will go very fast until 3GB has run out!

I think it's misleading to advertise a very modest data allowance plan/deal using that image.

How much are those extra GB when you go 50GB over?

Or perhaps a different plan would be better for you 'Dear customer'
    b4dr1's avatar
Not sure of what goes on but lebara's 3gb gets used slower than this network.
