info added by

Each Certified Refurbished Steam Deck has been thoroughly tested to the same high standards as our retail units. Every device goes through a complete factory reset, software update, and an extensive examination involving over 100 tests at one of Valve's facilities. Among the tests are all controller inputs, the audio system, the screen, and internals. Battery health is also assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity.

All refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units. Although they may have minor cosmetic blemishes, they provide a reliable, high-quality gaming experience at a lower cost.

All Certified Refurbished Steam Decks include:
The same one year warranty as a new Steam Deck (unless longer as determined by your country of residence)
A refurbished power supply - fully tested (may have minor cosmetic marks)
Carrying case and Quick Start guide

Portability meets power
We partnered with AMD to create Steam Deck's custom APU, optimized for handheld gaming. It is a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse, delivering more than enough performance to run the latest AAA games in a very efficient power envelope.

Your Steam Library, anywhere
Once you've logged into Steam Deck, your entire Steam Library shows up, just like any other PC. You'll also see the compatibility rating of each game, indicating the kind of experience you can expect when playing. You can dynamically filter any view in your library by compatibility rating if you're looking for specific sorts of experiences.

Control with comfort
The Steam Deck was built for extended play sessions—whether you're using thumbsticks or trackpads—with full-size controls positioned perfectly within your reach. The rear of the device is sculpted to comfortably fit a wide range of hand sizes.

To help anyone who wants to use their Xbox gamespass via cloud streaming, it works great on the deck.

here’s the link to get it working support.microsoft.com/en-…296

Great machine and great price. Probably the best version to buy as well. It looks daunting to upgrade the SSD as you see horror stories with stripped screws etc but if you take your time and have the right screwdriver, you're fine. Love mine, playing Baldurs Gate 3 on it

Any guide you would recommend to do this?

Had one b4 Christmas absolutely cracking bit of kit but my eyes are getting a bit on the old side and i wear reading glasses, but im so tempted again lol

I had one and I found it very tiring for my eyes, especially in the dark:/. I really like it and want to get one again but I know I’ll have the same issues when I game on it.

No retail box, just a refurbished sleeve but comes with case and power adapter. Looks like new.

Comes back in and out of stock.

So tempted by this, I need convincing though, will it be outdated in a year? Is it something I'm going to buy and play for a month then back in a draw?
    TehJumpingJawa's avatar
If you've got a big Steam library, and you 'need' a handheld games machine then this is the one to buy.
If you're technically inclined and like to dabble in emulators, or anything linux flavoured, then that's another reason to buy.

I wouldn't buy it for a kid as the user experience isn't really smooth enough for casuals.
Nor would I buy it as a desktop replacement as the performance will be disappointing. (edited)

Switch lite for sure. I think a 9 year old would have some trouble getting all the buttons/sticks, it’s an absolute unit.

prefer my original PSP, still play it regularly

Ive still got a vita, such a long shelf life

So tempted to get one, brilliant deal thanks for sharing

Id recommend it, they are a really great piece of kit (Apart from the battery life), They're also perfect for all the HUKD cheap steam game key deals , I wont bury my head in the sand on the battery issue though;) .
  11. johnthehuman's avatar
The ridiculously short battery life is the biggest thing putting me off one of these, even at this price.
    bdean18's avatar
It was the biggest thing putting me off prior to purchasing it. It's also very hard to defend the battery life when playing heavy games.

I've compromised and play less demanding games when travelling (with 65w battery pack for extra juice).

And I'll play more demanding games when in hotel rooms or at home etc.

Any recommendations for a good 1tb ssd upgrade?
  13. dnewman6's avatar
It comes in and out of stock. I had it in my basket and it went out of stock when I went to pay, but I just kept trying to complete for about 5 mins and it went through 🙌
  14. MrPortifoy's avatar
Update: back in stock on second attempt. Sacrificed the two options to play Starfield for this thanks OP

Out of stock … was in basket. A sign from the gaming gods it wasn’t meant to be… (edited)

    its back in stock

    Is this a 30fps machine?
    Escape_goat's avatar

It depends on the game. Something demanding like God of War or Red Dead Redemption will be 30 but indie or less demanding games can be 40 or 60.

Cant seem to click the buy button? Happening to anyone else?
    Ishme's avatar
Use a computer or tablet… For some reason the add to cart button doesn’t show on mobile. Even if you change to landscape (atleast that’s what happened with me).
  17. rrkjk's avatar
Is the screen on the 512gb version actually better?

    Can this play Fortnite please
    Gorskar's avatar
    Yes... but with caveats.

You can't run it natively in Linux (or SteamOS)

Your options are therefore to install windows on the steam deck (probably dual boot), or to stream it.

Ideally avoid putting windows on the steam deck - Steam OS gives a much nicer, more console-like experience.

Your best option is therefore to stream fortnite - XBox cloud gaming allows you to stream fortnite with a free account, so you can do that with no additional cost. See How to play Fortnite on Steam Deck - Dexerto

This seems like a great deal. I'm assuming that as I'm invested in Game Pass Ultimate, I'd be better with the Rog Ally though?

I can only really get on my Xbox a couple of times a week, so hoping to use a handheld for lunch breaks, etc. and bring my gaming time up a little.
    Escape_goat's avatar

Don't have Game Pass but I think you can either dual boot Windows or stream from the cloud. There are some advantages to the Ally but it's also a lot more expensive so not necessarily an apples to apples comparison.

Anybody tried playing football manager on this? If so, how does it run/play?
    mr_trumpet's avatar
    Completed it mate

Worth every penny. Got mine in the recent sale, upgraded to 1tb ssd and got a 512gb sd so plenty of storage (that is already running out, thanks MK11!) . Easy to get emulators running on as well. Superb bit of kit. (edited)
    Kurt_Constable's avatar
Definitely. I put a batocera image on a card and booted direct to it for retro. Son loves the setup once added epic loader for rocket league also. So flexible

Are these better than a switch ?
    L33kor's avatar
Yes bit a bit more complicated to operate unless your a bit technologically minded,i build computers and know how to program things,if you solely want it to use with steam its fine but switch is far more user friendly
but as the hardware compared to the switch this is way more powerful, but the battery isnt great, two three hours tops on a demanding game.
  27. Y2PANiC's avatar
I want this however, I know I'll never use it. 🥹
    kos1c's avatar
I thought the same. I don't use my series X or gaming laptop any more.
I bought a BT controller for my fold 4, I haven't even opened that for any gaming on the phone.

The deck has been my most used device this year.

It's too big, the screen is cheap, the battery life gash. If you want to legally play the best games in the World then your answer begins with 'N'. (edited)
    seskima's avatar
    Wrong.
  35. TiscaliSurvivor's avatar
I have one - screen is far to small for most games and a disaster for small unit games like sudden strike or aoe or civ  - be warned.
