Stayed here about 5 years ago. Chose it because of the wildlife on offer within the grounds. Spider monkeys, coties, raccoons, iguanas all just wandering freely around the grounds.
The sea here is great for snorkelling, saw huge turtles feeding on the vegetation. Only upsetting part for me is they have dolphins in captivity🥲
Cenotes within the grounds. The lazy river is fab and rooms are huge. Grounds are really sprawling. The nightlife is not Cancun, this area is slightly more chilled.
This isn’t 5 star but it is good value for money and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Hotel is mainly full of Americans and some Canadians.
There was an element of Timeshare selling but we only explained once we were from the UK and this wasn’t a viable option. We weren’t bothered again.

Was there at start July, I would agree it not the poshest but the food was good, lots of activities and well placed for going on lots of excursions.

I would go back and highly recommend xelha water park and try out the different types of cenotes.

Love this hotel. It's not the poshest hotel I've ever seen, but it is very good.

Stayed here twice and would happily return again - I'm always up for trying somewhere different but this place is fabulous and there'll always be negative reviews as people tend to complain more than give positive feedback. A great price for a wonderful holiday.

Stayed here twice before, the last time was in 2010 or so, thought it was a fab hotel with great food, better than many high end 5 star hotels ive stayed in. Now with kids, its simply too long a fligh. Once there though the staff were super friendly and not pestering for tips, would love to go back one day. I used to walk round the complex and I saw a large black cat and also tarantulas and off course raccoons and the iguanas. Been in hurricane season and had the experience of one too. Wouldn't put me off. (edited)

The included transfers are probably on a shared coach since it says the transfer time is 145 mins coach.
instead ditch the shared coach and I recommend arranging a transfer in a private car or minibus via ‘Canada Transfers’. (edited)

Is anyone else put off Mexico these days by hearing more and more about the horrific cartel activities? I just don't feel like I can risk taking my family there anymore...

Given the unlimited numbers of hotels there are in the world I'm always amazed to see it when someone on this site says they not only know the hotel, but they have stayed there too!. What are the odds. :/ (edited)

It's because people like package holidays and tui are the most popular so any hotels they use are very popular in the uk

Is this not the hotel that was in the newspapers due to theft from in room safes ?
    minority's avatar
It was but when we were there they had installed cctv between hotel blocks so they can now see anyone coming out room or stairwell.

We had no issues when we stayed.

Theft on my last visit - blamed it on the animals lol. There is a FB group - go and read the issues on there about this hotel which us going through a refurbishment on the blocks that TUI use ( So the group says) - this was 3k last oct 2 adults and 3 older kids. I expect it to be the same this oct a week or so prior. Would go back but the beach is not the best but entertainment fantastic. And you are only 20 miles or so from Tulum ruins which is like £2 in the wee mini bus on the street but £80 in a taxi.

If I were going back - id take a blink camera or a cheepo type that detects movement - Connect it to their wifi and watch what they are up to. They even took the Bath plug ? Maybe expecting a tip to bring it back who knows. (edited)

Just so people are aware, we were due to go here around this time with Tui, we got offered a refund or alternative because they are refurbishing the pool bar and beach bar meaning works could be heard from a lot of the hotel. We decided to just book another hotel

Fabulous place. Went for my 40th then covid hit. The hotel staff were brilliant and did all they could in the meantime before we had to fly home early.

Shame you feel that way @pc5020. I have been fortunate to visit both work and pleasure, and been to some of the roughest areas, google Monterrey. I have always had a great time as people are very family orientated, you always get hugs.

Back to the deal, been to Riviera Maya 3 times, not this hotel but is was close popped in for drink as friends were out same time. Looks really nice and they had no issues. We have stayed at three different hotels in the White Sands resort.

Akumal is 10mins away, jump on the bus and meet locals, Tulum again not far. Chichen Itza you need to do - one of the new seven wonders of the world, take a guided tour - long day but fascinating.

Been fortunate to travel a lot, never really go to same place twice - would go back to this area in a heartbeat.

***Would not go for 7 days though*** (edited)

For those talking about thefts.. We went to Egypt. The Hilton. The day after we arrived back we were informed by the bank an attempt was made to purchase flights from Egypt using my card. Which was in the safe for two weeks! My daughter had things taken too ... I never use the hotel safe for variables since that. I love the blink idea and will be taking ours next holiday for sure!

Ditch going to tulum, too, unless you like sweating your ass off in a seriously humid area containing a whole load of rocks and cliffs, with a bunch of tourists in every direction your eyes can see. (edited)

Hated this hotel. They ruined our 25th anniversary. Would not send my worst enemy there.
